Standard Index Form (Collect a Joke) This is a collect a joke activity which requires pupils to collect the letters to give the punch line to a bad maths joke! Pupils start where indicated, make a note of the letter in the middle of the row (cross it out to keep track) and then work out the answer to the question below. They then find this answer on the top row and again make a note of the letter underneath, thus collecting the punchline ‘because they have sine and cosine to get a tan’. “Spot the mistake” activity can be used to assess pupil’s understanding of a topic. The aim is for pupils find the mistakes in an already the matched up jigsaw and they should then correct those mistakes. This spot the mistake involves expanding brackets to form quadratics and involves two different versions, were version two can be used to stretch and challenge pupils by asking them to create questions which give the answers around the edge of the jigsaw. In this math art activity pupils need to simplify algebraic expressions. Pupils then shade all the squares with those answers in the colour stated. There are three different worksheets of three different levels of difficulty, each results in a different Halloween image. Worksheet 1: There are 20 questions on simplifying basic algebraic expressions involving addition and subtraction. Worksheet 2: There are 20 questions which require simplifying expressions by adding/subtracting like terms or multiplying. Worksheet 3: There are 15 questions to answer simplifying expressions, including expansion of brackets &amp; then simplifying. This purchase includes four different fortune tellers (cootie catchers in the US) on BIDMAS/PEDMAS the order of operations and also blank fortune tellers so pupils can create their own. Each fortune teller has eight questions requiring students to use the order of operations to perform calculations . The corners of the cootie catcher indicated the differentiation which is to three levels (easy, medium and difficult) and the fourth corner is a “pot luck” section. When you purchase the download will have two versions a UK BIDMAS version and a US PEDMAS version. In addition both colour and back/white versions included. Treasure Hunts promote cooperative learning and engagement by pupils working in pairs to find the correct answer.
