Test your students’ ability to spot mistakes and develop their understanding with this activity. Pupils are given two different answers to a question and have to determine which is correct. They then have to explain what misconception has led to the incorrect answer. In this resources there are four different tick or trash worksheets; Worksheet A; This worksheet involves 10 questions on finding the nth term of linear sequences. There are nine questions of increasing sequence and Q10 a decreasing linear sequence. Worksheet B; This worksheet involves 10 questions on finding the nth term of linear sequences. The first nine questions are a mix of both increasing and decreasing linear sequences and Q10 basic quadratic sequence. Worksheet C; This worksheet involves 10 questions on finding the nth term of quadratic sequences, a mix of a=1 and a≠1… Worksheet D; This worksheet has 9 questions which progresses through all of the above style questions; linear and quadratic. Christmas Maths Sequences Collect a Joke This is a collect a joke activity which requires pupils to collect the words to collect the Chist-maths Joke “Why isn’t every man in a red suit with a beard Father Christmas? ?” and punchline “Because correlation doesn’t imply Claus-ality” Pupils start where indicated, make a note of the word in the middle of the row (cross it out to keep track) and then work out the answer to the question below. They then find this answer on the top row and again make a note of the word underneath, thus forming the joke and punchline. Circle theorems are the angle properties associated with circles, chords, tangents, radius and diameters and is part of the GCSE 9-1 curriculum. This resource includes three circle theorem revision foldables. Foldables are ideal for revision or review of a topic and a unique way of creating notes which can be used again and again to test knowledge. The three foldables are; Circle Theorems 1 (pp. 4-5): This foldable requires students to recognise and state in full each of the circle theorems. Circle Theorems 2 (pp.6-7): This foldable requires the pupils to draw an example of each circle theorem. Pupils should also state the theorem in full. Circle Theorems 3 (pp.8-9): This foldable requires pupils to find the missing angles and state the circle theorem used. Two versions of different paper sizes are included one is A4 size and the other letter size. Remember to choose to ‘fit’ when printing. Transformation of Graphs Revision Foldable This purchase includes nine foldables on tranformation of graphs, there are five on translation of graphs (as needed for the 9-1 GCSE Maths) and four foldables that have a mix of transformations e.g. translation, reflection and stretch. The foldables require the students to recall the different transformations (reflections, translations and stretch) naming and describing each transformation. •Translating Graphs 1; Pupils state the general rules for translation of graphs e.g. f(x)+a. Once complete this could be used as support for pupils to refer to. •Translating Graphs 2; Specific translations only in one direction, pupils describe and sketch for a function of f(x)=x² •Translating Graphs 3; Specific translations in one or more direction on the graph of f(x)=x². •Describing Translations 1; Pupils are given a sketch and from that they describe the translation on the f(x)=x², each translation is in one direction only. •Describing Translations 2; Pupils are given a sketch and from that they describe the translation on the quadratic function, the translation is in one or more direction. •Transforming Graphs 1; General rules for translation and stretches, pupils are to describe in words. •Transforming Graphs 2; Specific transformations on the function f(x)=x² (axis provided) •Transforming Graphs 3; Specific transformation on any function of your choosing (axis provided) Foldables can be used as a revision or summary exercise at the end of a topic. As the answers are hidden pupils can use these to ‘test’ themselves or ask someone else such as a parent to test them. Heat Maps can be displayed or printed for each pair of pupils. Each heat map increases in difficulty indicated by the hotness, the redder/hotter the more difficult the question. Pupils choose a cell to start at and perform the given operation with the corresponding element of the question from the x and y axis. This heat map requires pupils to add together the algebraic fractions, this is with increased difficulty due to the denominator being made up of algebraic terms or expressions.
