History lesson on how the Ancient Greeks governed themselves. Students are to recap on previous knowledge on how the Ancient Egyptians were governed before looking at Ancient Greek methods. Students will then look at the similarities and differences between todays governance and that of 2500 years ago. Students are then assigned a role within Greek society and it will be their job to share this information with classmates as they go around the room to investigate the other 7 roles. Worksheet is provided for students to complete during the last task.

A KS3 History lesson centred on the ending of the First World War and how Britain adapted to life after the war. Students will look at the improvements made post-war as well as some of the challenges faced by the recovering nation. Sources and questions present throughout the lesson.

A KS4 AQA History lesson on the failure of the war plans at the start of the First World War. Students will look at the early stages of the Schlieffen Plan which leads to the Battle of the Marne. Students will look at Belgian resistance here with a source analysis task. Students will then move on towards the origins of trench warfare with the race to the sea before looking at Russian involvement on Germany’s Eastern Front. This lesson ends with a source analysis question based on early Russian dominance against the Austro-Hungarians.

A KS4 AQA History Lesson centred on how the technology in the skies were used during the First World War. Students investigate how planes were first used, the different types of planes used by both sides as well as the aces that flew them. Students will have questions to answer and sources to analyze.

A GCSE AQA Psychology lesson on the processes of memory: how we store, encode and retrieve information. Students will investigate the different types of encoding (acoustic, visual, semantic, etc.) Students will then have GCSE style questions to complete.

A GCSE AQA Psychology lesson based on the function and structure of the Nervous System. The lesson covers aspects of the CNS, PNS, ANS and SNS and their function. There are a number of GCSE style questions for students to complete.

A KS3 History lesson on the ‘final solution’ and steps taken towards the mass execution of Europe’s Jews. Students will look at persecution, ghettos and concentration camps using sources to guide them. Lots of information and question involved which should see this lesson take 2 hours to complete. There are some sensitive images used so please review before teaching.

KS3 History lesson introducing the concept of Total War using the Second World War as an example. Students will investigate: Roles of women Dig for Victory Air raid shelters Home Guard Blitz/Blackout Evacuation This lesson is best used as a carousel with students investigating each aspect of total war and how each would impact on life during the war.

A KS3 History lesson based around complexities of cowardice during the First World War. Students focus on a specific case study, that of Private Harry Farr, and they are to assess the evidence for and against his cowardice. This usually stretches over two lessons; the first looking at the prosecution’s side of the story and the second looking at Farr (the defendant’s) side of the story. Students complete tasks at the end of the lessons to conclude if the outcome was justified.

KS3 History lesson centred on the introduction of the USA into the Second World War and the use of Nuclear weapons against Japan. Students have questions to answer regarding the use of nuclear weapons and the ending of the Second World War.

A KS4 AQA History lesson covering the land and naval arms race between the countries within Europe before the First World War. The lesson is an independent study with information sheets accompanying a worksheet that needs to be printed and handed to the students to complete.

A KS4 AQA History lesson on the Germany Schlieffen Plan, put into effect during the start of the First World War. Students will look at the creation of the Schlieffen Plan, with it’s creator Alfred von Schlieffen, as well as it’s strengths and weaknesses. The failure of the plan is discussed towards the end of the lesson with a source to analyze alongside some questions.

A KS4 AQA History lesson centred on the events in July 1914 which led to the outbreak of the First World War. Students will look at events in the Balkans following the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and how countries in Europe interacted with one another. Students then have a source analysis task before attempting a GCSE exam question with the mark scheme provided.

A KS3 History lesson which introduces Titanic and why it is such a notorious disaster of the early 20th century. Titanic’s luxury as well as the possible causes of the disaster are looked at here. This is developed within a second lesson (Why did the Titanic sink?) There are a number of questions and sources for students to work through to create a stable foundational knowledge of the Titanic.

A KS3 History lesson on the signing up process for the First World War. The lesson is split into two parts which I teach over 2 lessons. The first part looks at propaganda and some motivations for people to join the fighting. The second part looks at sources written/spoken by those who joined up to fight and their reasoning.

A KS3 History lesson on the conclusion of the First World War. We look at the ‘big 3’ and what they wanted to achieve after defeating Germany. Germany’s punishment is laid out in the Treaty of Versailles. The League of Nations is analysed via its successes and failures.

A KS3 History lesson which looks at the impact of the First World War on the home front. DORA, Zeppelin raids, cowardice, rationing and the role of women are all looked at in this lesson. Questions follow the information on the slides.

2 KS3 History lessons that centres on the moon landings. Students will focus on source analysis in both lessons; firstly addressing sources that discredit the landings and claim they are a hoax. The second uses sources that aim to prove that the landings were real. A report type task is present at the end of the second lesson where students are asked to present a balanced response before a opinionated conclusion on what the student thinks is true and why.
