A set of 5 worksheets to support teaching and learning in understanding note lengths and their rest equivalents. Start with the overview when learning about them, then move on to worksheets and fill in the gaps to consolidate understanding. Great for any part in a lesson to check students understanding, and also good for homework and revision practice.

UNDERSTANDING DURATION: advanced rhythm creator

A fantastic and flexible resource on one A4 sheet with an additional instruction sheet if needed. Students are required to create their own rhythms using the given symbols of note lengths and rests to support them as they learn to compose their own rhythmic ideas. This has more choice than my ‘basic’ rhythm creator worksheet and provides differentiation for the classroom. This is purposefully missing a time signatures section to avoid confusion. Teachers can direct students on which time signatures to use as and when they teach them.

A collection of my rhythm creators all in one package. Students are required to create their own rhythms using the given symbols of note lengths and rests to support them as they learn to compose their own rhythmic ideas. Having all of these worksheets in one place allows for flexible differentiation all done for you. This collection also includes a power point with instructions on how students might go about creating their own rhythmic ideas. There is also a demo slide included for the purpose of teacher modeling
