A Scheme of Work for introducing students to animation techniques and the key pioneers of each field. Originally designed for teaching UAL students but easily adaptable for teaching other curricula including BTEC Media and Art courses. Aimed at teaching Level 2 students but easily adjustable to either Level 1 or Level 3. The scheme involves weekly taught sessions on each type of animation followed by workshops where students develop and produce ideas. The scheme lasts for seven weeks and aims to build into a project based around the cross media video game Clayfighter. Clayfighter scheme and resources available separately or in bundle.

Included you will find a Scheme of Work (including aims and objectives) for teaching towards the Unit 1 exam. Alongside the scheme you will also have handouts for each session as well as any additional resources. Furthermore there will be links to Prezis to accompany teaching each session. You are free to edit all handouts and make a copy of each Prezi so that you can modify them to suit your needs. The scheme will take you throughout the Autumn term and prepare your students for examinations in January. There is a mock exam the week before half term and one before the Christmas break as well as time to complete extra revision/cram sessions on identified weak areas. An example mock for the half term is included covering only what the students will have learnt. It is recommended past papers are used in the final mock exam. The scheme works through every topic that is stated in the 2013 Creative Digital Media Production BTEC Specification. Through teaching this unit this way I have had 100% success at Level 2 since implementation. Preferably requires centres to have access to Photoshop. Each Lesson is timed to last 1.5 hours but can be adjusted accordingly.

Using these resources I have had 100% pass rates in the level 2 unit 8 exam since implementation. This includes merits and distinctions. It is best to support this units teaching with weekly testing (I use Kahoot). Included you will find a Scheme of Work (including aims and objectives) for teaching towards the Unit 8 exam. The scheme covers every area needed to be taught for the unit 8 exam. Alongside the scheme you will also have handouts for each relevant session as well as any additional resources (some sessions involve tasks and student presentations where handouts are not utilised). A lesson introducing students to pixel art and a pixel animation using designing Pokemon as a starting off point. The lesson explains the history of digital pixel art in video games and then goes onto guide students through basic design choices for their practical work. The handout provides a step by step guide and information on using Piskelapp to create their pixel art. Extension tasks: Animate design. Create further evolutionary stages of Pokemon design. Lesson time can be adjusted from 45 minutes for introduction to art to 3 hours for full exploration. Internet access for all students is required. It is recommended that the teacher explores www.piskelapp.com before delivering the session so they are familiar with the software and can assist students with design. Suitable for teaching Year 9 to Year 12 . Included in Pack - Handout and Prezi Presentation E&M covered VARK learning styles catered for.

Scheme of work and assignments for teaching BTEC Level 2 Creative Digital Media Production Unit 11: Animation for Digital Media. The scheme covers teaching for sessions from September to December but can be adjusted accordingly. The scheme begins with study and experimentation in animation techniques and then progresses onto a larger form project. The larger form project is also useful for some criteria in Unit 2: Planning and Pitching a Digital Media Product. Assignment briefs were approved by EV in 2015.

All worksheets and presentations and a scheme of work for seven weeks of theory and practical sessions, introducing students to animation and it's different forms. Presentations look at the different styles of animation and their pioneers. Students complete research tasks and explore examples. Each theory session leads onto practical application sessions. After practical sessions are complete, students complete weekly reviews. This unit was initially designed for teaching Level 2 UAL students but easily adaptable to other curricula, particularly BTEC, as well adaptation to higher or lower levels. Recommended Time: 6 - 8 hours per week. Recommended Resources: DSLR Cameras, Editing Software, Computers, Plastercine or modelling clay, wire, Milliput, white card, black card, scissors, charcoal, Adobe Animate/Flash.
