Sarah's Little Shop

Average Rating4.51
(based on 1525 reviews)

You never know what you might find on the shelves in my shop! Anything from 'Let's go on a Dinosaur Adventure!' to my most popular 'Fronted Adverbials' (yes, really!) The mixture of themes and ages reflects my role in school as a regular supply teacher. I love creating interesting, colourful, interactive resources which engage the children and stimulate learning. Many resources are for RE, PSHE and phonics. I hope you enjoy browsing. I'd love to hear what you think!

Imagine That! Beyond the Aegean Sea ~ A Greek Adventure. Scripted fantasy.

Scripted fantasies are powerful tools that teachers can use to transport children’s minds into a wealth of scenarios, adventures and mysteries. By provoking the imagination, children become curious; they wonder, they generate new ideas and explore possibilities beyond what is expected. 'Beyond the Aegean Sea' can be used with upper KS2 children as part of their exploration of Ancient Greece. The class close their eyes and listen as you take them on a journey in which they themselves play a significant role. Benefits include: ~Build on children’s natural enjoyment of make-believe ~Present opportunities for children to be successful; there are no right or wrong answers ~Help children develop the ability to think creatively ~Stimulate a creative mood in the classroom ~Have fun with thinking and language ~Help develop children’s listening and speaking skills ~Enrich and consolidate learning on a topic ~Ignite and excite imaginative thought ~Introduce new, colourful, descriptive language In addition to the script itself, there are images to show the children beforehand, a slide of questions for follow-up discussion in small groups and a slide of suggested follow-up activities for the children to choose from including writing, role play and art work. Teachers who have used this resource noticed an excitement in the children, including those with learning difficulties. They were keen to share their adventures and there was a noticeable improvement in their confidence to write freely.

By provoking the imagination, children become curious; they wonder, they generate new ideas and explore possibilities beyond what is expected. This resource can be used with KS2 children as part of their Inventors and Inventions topic. The children close their eyes while you take them on an adventure in which they play a role. When they open their eyes, they will have lots to talk about! In addition to the script itself, there are notes for teachers explaining how to use it, images to show the children beforehand, a slide of questions to help children discuss their adventures and a slide of suggested follow-up activities.
