Guided Reading and Fine Motor Planning for Reception

Guided Reading and Fine Motor Planning for Reception

I use this planning to support my daily ‘guided reading’ sessions for my reception class. I used this planning in Autumn Term 2, so I have focused on reading, communication and language and physical development objectives (taken from Development Matters). I split the objectives into three groups to suit my class, but the table can be edited to suit a different cohort. Objectives and ELGs can also be added throughout the year. I will also add some of my tricky word and spelling practise resources to my TES shop soon. :-) Please note - the TES preview looks a little different, see my picture preview for how it will look when you download.

Achieving, creating, building Greater depth in persuasive writing KS2 Year 3, 4, 5

Achieving, creating, building Greater depth in persuasive writing KS2 Year 3, 4, 5

This resource structures persuasive writing for your whole class. In the past I have used this a whole lesson and written each sentence as a class to really create an in depth piece of writing. I would ask the children for their ideas and they would collaboratively come up with ideas and then write down after sharing them with whole class. I have also cut the sentence strips out and allowed my higher attaining pupils to play around with the structure. This resource allows the lowers a structure to follow and the opportunity to write without worrying about content and structure. I hope that you enjoy using this resource and that your children’s writing is wonderful! Many thanks

I can use the conjunctions ‘if’ and ‘although’, fully resourced lesson

I can use the conjunctions ‘if’ and ‘although’, fully resourced lesson

In Key Stage 2, especially from Year 4 onwards, children are expected to use a variety of conjunctions accurately. I think that ‘if’ and ‘although’ deserve as a whole session on their own because they are two of the trickier conjunctions. Children often use ‘although’ inaccurately as they do not understand it’s meaning. Included is: a warm-up activity to get children thinking right from the moment they come in; a 20 slide PowerPoint with lots of activities to engage with; a detailed lesson plan; a simple SAN/low attainers activity.
