KS2 Maths Bundle (Statistics)

KS2 Maths Bundle (Statistics)

Topic-focused SATs questions and fully-worked solutions for the STATISTICS strand. Click 👉 tes.com/…/bundles… for booklet bundles of the other strands.<hr>I have put all my STATISTICS booklets together in this one convenient download. I hope that this is helpful to you.<hr> The questions in these booklets are in the style of actual SATs questions and are designed to be printed as A4 or A5. KEY POINTS: I have provided full answers, with comments and working where helpful. I have maintained the style of the actual SATs questions so that students can become comfortable with the way that SATs questions are presented. Most of the questions are from actual SATs papers, but I have also added questions so that this resource matches the requirements the current curriculum better than the older resources that are still in common use (note that many of the older resources of this type contain questions on topics which are no longer examined). I have spent a lot of time arranging the questions so that there is a general increase in difficulty as students work through them, and so that they fit on the pages better – this means less wasted space and significant paper-saving when printing 😃 <hr>👍If you like this resource, then please rate it and/or leave a comment💬. If the rate-resource button on this page doesn’t work, then go to your ratings page by clicking 👉 www.tes.com/…/rate-resources…

Transforming graphs of a function/ Plotting transformations with Desmos/ GeoGebra

Transforming graphs of a function/ Plotting transformations with Desmos/ GeoGebra

L/O: To plot and then comment on transformations of a function. Worksheet activity where students type in basic function f(x)=x squared into Desmos or GeoGebra and then do various transformations of this function. Students plot and draw what happens on the graphs and make a comment about what they find. Comment sections are scaffolded to guide pupils in describing the transformation. The worksheet is 4 sides of A4, with a gradual increase in difficulty. I have used this with high ability year 7 and 8 classes, plus high and middle ability year 9, 10 and 11 classes. Transforming function graphs (translations and reflections of non-trigonometric graphs) is grade 7 on the new GCSE 9-1 scale. As an unprotected Word document you can edit it as required.

Graphing Lines - Self Directed Lessons - Hyperdoc Style

Graphing Lines - Self Directed Lessons - Hyperdoc Style

This is a sequence of learning to help students gain an understanding of graphing lines in gradient-intercept form. It has been developed using the model of “Hyperdocs”. More info can be found at: https://hyperdocs.co/ To set this up with students in my classroom, I share the document with them, and I let them work through the first 2 phases independantly without any explanation from me. Then I meet with them to check their understanding during phase 3. If I am happy with their progress they can move on. Once they have made a nice drawing on Desmos, I have them take a practice test, which is supplied as a PDF, with answers. If students move through it quickly, encourage them to be more creative with their designs on Desmos. If they move slowly, have them make a more simple drawing. Please note: Students need access to a computer or iPad or even a phone. This could be done in pairs or small groups. This could be teacher directed instead. You need to create a class code for the marbleslides activity on Desmos. The final hyperlink takes students to an online revision site called Buzzmath, and students would need to make a free account. It can easily be replaced with a mymaths.co.uk link instead, or anything else you prefer. I would estimate this to take anywhere from 3 to 6 one-hour classes. It is currently aimed at year 9 students. All feedback is welcome and encouraged. I’ve shared it for free and I hope as a result you will review and suggest improvements. Enjoy!

Real Life Graphs Mobile Phone Tarriffs

Real Life Graphs Mobile Phone Tarriffs

This activity requires students to draw graphs comparing cost against minutes of use for a variety of (made up) tariffs. Once the students have drawn the graphs (which is best done on A3 paper), there are a series of questions that require them to use their graph and the tariffs themselves to find solutions. This activity tends to take 2 lessons with a KS3 group. Answers and the correct graph are included.

Time-Series Graphs (Testing your perception against Reality)

Time-Series Graphs (Testing your perception against Reality)

Graphs are an ideal place to look for cross-curricular links and in this resource I've tried to emphasize the importance of statistics and statistical awareness for everyone. This is achieved by looking at the 2016 US election and Brexit. In this lesson, students write down guesses for important guesses about the world, they then check their guesses by interpreting real world guesses. Comes as a complete lesson with worksheet
