Students learn about the two failed attempts to colonise Virginia. They analyse the decisions made on each voyage and critics these before creating a guide book for people wanting to undertake a successful voyage to the New World. This sets them to answer the lesson's question (a 16 mark exam question). There is also a homework activity. As always there are step by step instruction, high-quality differentiated resources and exam support. This lesson concludes the Unit of Work. These two documents are to support students revision of Paper 1: Medicine in Britain 50AD - present day (with the historic environment) and Paper 2: Early Elizabethan England 1558 - 1588 offered on the Edexcel 9-1 specification. The aim is that students are set a revision activity each day throughout the summer (or any school holiday as it's very easy to adapt) so that they are constantly preparing themselves for the exams. The calendar provides students with days where they can have a break.

Brief lesson PowerPoint to introduce students to the problems faced by the first settlers on the Plains. Lesson does require understanding on the part of the teacher, especially as information is kept to a minimum with visual resources being utilised more. Exam practice question included, with sentence stems, as well as support and challenge tasks / slides. Big question included to hook students into learning, and there is also an engaging plenary.

Nazi Germany & the Rise of a Dictatorship: Lesson 15 Who suffered the most under the Nazis, 1933-39?

Students learn about Nazi policies towards minority groups and how these were influenced by eugenics. The main activity requires students to position Nazi policies on a graph frame, with the positioning based on their opinion re the severity of the persecution. The graph is then used to complete a series of tasks. Clear step by step instructions, differentiated activities and worksheets. This is the last lesson in the unit of work.

The TET Offensive (Edexcel GCSE 1-9)

This lesson is designed to inform students about the TET offensive in order to enable them to explain why it was a significant turning point in the War leading to US public opposition. Students then will study different interpretations of the TET to then explain why they interpret it differently. Hook starter: A Selection of images for students to study upon entrance to class encouraging them to reflect upon how they would feel if they were seeing these images on TV. Students watch a video clip (Embedded) and are supplied with contextual knowledge via the PEEP SHEET if required. Students are encouraged to explain the significance of the TET and why it led to increased public opposition. Students then apply their knowledge to an exam style question (Why do interpretations one and two have different opinions about the success of the TET). WAGOL is then provided as students peer assess. Lesson ends with a rounding up of students opinions about why the TET was a turning point. easily enough to cover more than one lesson. Also included is a bluffers guide on how to structure exam questions and a personalised learning checklist for the entire crime and punishment unit for students to self assess their progress against the specification's content. The lessons use the pearson textbook but could be easily adapted for use with other resources.
