A Level French - Les techniques cinématographiques - Filming Techniques - Essay

A Level French - Les techniques cinématographiques - Filming Techniques - Essay

This lesson aims to introduce several filming techniques to A Level students in order to prepare them to analyse and comment on a director’s style, in essays. Each plan / filming technique is illustrated with photos, gifs and videos, and all of them have thorough comments in the speaker notes, at the bottom of each slide. Each example comes from famous films and emphasises on the wanted effect on spectators. I am teaching “La Haine” so I also added some slides on how to observe and justify those techniques in the film that we are studying. However, those activities are very easily transferrable to any other film suggested by any exam boards. The full unit of work should last 3-4 lessons.

Charlie Hebdo - liberté d'expression - authentic materials - MFL - FRENCH

Charlie Hebdo - liberté d'expression - authentic materials - MFL - FRENCH

This can make up a series of lessons about the Charlie Hebdo attacks of 2015 in Paris. More suited to KS4 and possible a more mature Year 9 group given the nature of the topic and the vocab used. The first few slides are a selection of starters using authentic materials that get pupils responding to images in a similar vain to the GCSE photocard. The lessons get pupils looking at current affairs but also looks at grammar, genuine quotes, and an article amongst other activities such as opinion lines. My classes really found this topic interesting but it also pushed them in terms of language, vocabulary and grammar. Alongside this Powerpoint I have also used the French Netflix documentary « Je suis Charlie » https://www.netflix.com/watch/80079253?trackId=13752289&tctx=0%2C1%2C491adc434dd06655319d9ea4a3625e6e22127a0d%3A5b75458081903e484cb2dc14579e901ead7c8d6c%2C%2C WARNING: not all of this documentary is suitable for showing to students so make yourself aware of the sections that ought to be skipped before pressing play! Obviously as this is on Netflix it requires a subscription and for it not to be blocked on the school IT system. Notes to teacher: SENSITIVE SUBJECT MATTER: Please look through all powerpoint and be aware of sensitive nature of this topic and be mindful of your classes potential response before using.

A level French Speaking Revision Booklet

A level French Speaking Revision Booklet

A revision booklet aimed at A level students doing the AQA spec. Primarily, it includes a list of the exam regulations as well as the structure of the exam. As this booklet focuses on the stimulus card aspect of the exam, it also has a mark scheme for that. It includes an example of a stimulus card on all 12 themes used throughout AS and A level AQA French. There are three questions on each card, and subsequently, there are possible answers to each question on each card to show students how to structure their planning and best use their time. There is space for extra annotations and translations to be done as the comments are in English. As the students are required to ask their teacher 2 questions relating to the card, there are also 4 examples per card of questions students could ask. At the end of the booklet, there are tasks for the students to complete. These tasks include: plan your own response for three of the questions under ‘possible questions to ask teachers’ where students are encouraged to think outside the box. practice doing one of the cards with a peer, taking it in turns to swap roles and be the examiner. This helps them to get to grips with the mark scheme. lastly, there is an example of transcript between a student and an examiner. The students should annotate this with what the student did well, and how they could improve. By doing both of these, the students can learn something.

Jeux et jouets - Qui a...? - Card Game

Jeux et jouets - Qui a...? - Card Game

This game is a version of the classic I-Have-Who-Has game. It is designed to practice using the verb* avoir* and identifying and naming various toys and games. It is a great way to practice the newly taught vocabulary, as well as pronunciation and listening skills. Print the document one-sided, laminate it and cut out the cards. Distribute all the cards randomly to the students. Select a student to begin by reading his card out loud and then putting it down. The other students listen attentively to each question, answer it if they have the answer card and then they read the next question. The game is over when all the cards are down.
