Keywords revision game GCSE Christianity, Islam, Theme A

Keywords revision game GCSE Christianity, Islam, Theme A

This is a game I've created for my year 11's. They've been struggling with keywords so this is a fun activity that can be played multiple times with them. There are differing levels of rules so can allow for differentiation as well. The cards have been created so that you can print them double sided and the tiles will match up (or print and photocopy 1sided - 2 sided and it should work) I recommend laminating and printing each set of different colour paper. There are about 27 words in total. The rules in short are, Spread the cards out across your table with the keyword facing up Each player takes it in turn to select a card and guess the definition of the word. If the player guesses correctly with the reverse of the card they keep the card and add it to their pile. If they are incorrect the leave the card to the table and put back 3 cards from their hand. Winner is the person with the most cards at the end of the game. Three sets: Islam, Christianity, Theme A Please review! Thanks

AQA RS - ISLAM AND CHRISTIANITY TEACHINGS GUIDE

AQA RS - ISLAM AND CHRISTIANITY TEACHINGS GUIDE

This is an excellent resource aimed at improving pupils knowledge of the religious teachings needed to score a 9 in the new AQA GCSE. It gives essential quotations in once place for: +Christianity Beliefs and Practices +Islam Beliefs and Practices +Themes B, C, D and E from Christian and Muslim perspectives (apart from theme C which requires atheist views. My pupils have this as the indispensable resource for improvement and have it alongside them whenever they are answering questions. Part of the strength is that they need to engage with the quotations/teachings by explaining what they mean and how they relate to the topics. Essential for 8 and 9 grades. I have been using this for more than five years, across various specifications, to great effect.

12 Mark Question Revision Guide

12 Mark Question Revision Guide

This is a resource aimed at helping pupils to improve their scores in 12 mark questions in the AQA Religious Studies GCSE. It is intended to be used either in class or for homework, once per week. Pupils complete a question, are encouraged to review it and the teacher gives one targeted piece of feedback, to be integrated to the next attempt. This takes the hassle out of setting home work and really gets pupils to think carefully about their skills and progress. It has questions in it aimed at AQA Christianity and Islam, with themes B, C, D & E but could EASILY be configured to match your religion and theme choice. I have been using this now for more than five years and the impact on pupil scores has been excellent. Especially good for HoDs working with non-specialists who need guidance and structure. It includes the mark scheme, a model answer and tips for pushing for the top band scores.

The resource encourages independent enquiry into the beliefs in paradise/heaven from the perspective of the 3 Abrahamic faiths - Christianity, Islam and Judaism. Pupils use information to compare/contrast information, and analyse the similarities/differences between and within religions. Islam and punishment

Islam and punishment

This resource is a power point that can be used as a lesson plan. The presentation includes a starter activity to get students to think about why we punish people, a sorting activity, sources or W&A, clips to explain weaknesses of deterrence and Muslim viewpoints and finishes with an exam question. This took two lessons to cover including discussion.
