I am a Science teacher of 20 years who has worked as both an Assistant Science Faculty Leader in mainstream school as well as ITE coordinator. I have also worked in alternative provision and now am curriculum leader for SEND Nurture provision in a special secondary school where I have developed many resources for teaching ELC Science. I love all things Science and enjoy being creative with my teaching.

CC5a Ionic Bonds

(0)
Edexcel CC5a Ionic Bonds. This presentation usually takes about 3 or 4 lessons depending upon how quickly the students grasp the concept. It is worth spending time ensuring full comprehension as this is one of the fundamentals in chemistry. It starts by looking at how ions form, then moves onto drawing ions and ionic bonding diagrams ( dot and cross diagrams) Finally it ends by looking at charges on ions and how they link to the position in the Periodic Table. 3 differentiated worksheets are also included with this bundle.
CC5 Ionic Bonding

CC5 Ionic Bonding

4 Resources
This bundle contains presentations on Ionic Bonds (can take up to 3 or 4 lessons dependent upon the ability and understanding of the students) followed by Ionic lattices and then properties of ionic compounds. I have also included in this bundle a presentation on writing word and symbol equations which fits in nicely for higher ability students following the presentation on ionic bonds. With each powerpoint (apart from the revision one) there are 3 differentiated worksheets also.

Year 7 Introduction to Science - Investigations

(1)
This is the fifth lesson in a series of 6 lessons to introduce year 7 to Science. This lesson is titled ‘Investigations’ and allows students to undertake an investigation early in the year. I have included an investiagtion title page for Y7,8,9,10 and 11 ( please look in the notes section at the bottom of the powerpoint to find out which is most suitable) . I have not included many details of the investigations as the point is for the students to do this for themselves. This may take 2 lessons depending upon the ability of the students in the class. The presentation should be self explanatory . The next lesson is ‘Drawing graphs’
CC11b Ores and metal extraction
jennytribejennytribe

CC11b Ores and metal extraction

(1)
Edexcel CC11b Metal ores and metal extraction. This powerpoint takes students through how the method of extraction of a metal is based upon the reactivity series. It includes information on 2 biological methods of extraction and also includes a differentiated worksheet.
CC4c Electronic configuration

Year 8 Results and Graphs

(0)
This is a powerpoint I use for my year 8 to familiarise them with how to record results, draw tables, make sure results are reliable and then drawing the correct graphs. This sits nicely alongside my other powerpoints on Year 8 maths in science and Year 8 The scientific method.
CC4 The Periodic Table

Biology 10 question quizzes - Cells

(0)
This is a series of 10 question recall tests for use at the start or end of a lesson. This presentation includes quizzes on microscopes, plant and animal cells, specialised cells and bacteria. At the end of each quiz is a slide with just the questions on so that they can be printed off and handed out to students as a starter whilst you do the register. The presentation then goes through each questions with the answer so that students can self assess. Alternatively it can be done as a plenary and rapid fire targeted questions just using the presentation.
CC10a Electrolysis
jennytribejennytribe

CC10a Electrolysis

(0)
Edexcel CC10a Electrolysis. This presentation explores the apparatus sued in electrolysis and the terminology used. It explains why solid ionic substances can not conduct electricity and then takes higher students through the skill of writing half equations and using OILRIG to work out reduction and oxidation. IT also includes 3 differentiated worksheets.
Lets revise Ions and ionic bonding

Lets revise Ions and ionic bonding

(0)
A stand alone resource that I have used for revision of ionic bonding. It guides students how to write the name of ionic compounds, how to draw ionic bonding diagrams and how to write the formulae of ionic compounds. There are 3 opportunities in the presentation for students to practice what has been taught so that any misconceptions can be addressed immediately.

Edexcel CP10c Flemings left hand rule and the motor effect. This powerpoint start by recapping the basics of magnetism and then looks at how Flemings left hand rule determine the direction in which the wire moves. This is followed by calculating the size of the force using the equation F=Bx I x l and includes worked examples. It then moves onto looking at how motors work and the different parts in a motor and finally finishes with the opportunity to build a simple DC motor. There is plenty of opportunity for Afl within this lesson. The workmat also included allows students to work independent of their books as it has key points, learning outcomes and graded questions on it.
