Mary I'm telling You Now! - VERY catchy new Christmas song

Mary I'm telling You Now! - VERY catchy new Christmas song

The Annunciation was never like this! What a dilemma, engaged to be married to Joseph - then you are told that you're gong to bear the son of God! This singable song puts a human angle on this part of the Christmas story. Please check the vocal demo - you will be singing the chorus by the end of it! Send the children to this page on my website so they can practice at home - vital to get the words out clearly. http://www.musicals4kidz.com/musicals4kidz.com/Christmas_Songs_for_Choirs.html They can also access the song on You Tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpC0O3yViL4 Get in touch if you want any changes to key or tempo.

The Witches - Roald Dahl - Novel Study Presentation

The Witches - Roald Dahl - Novel Study Presentation

This presentation (Powerpoint) covers a HUGE range of learning areas that are available in the novel The Witches by Roald Dahl. Starting with the history of witches and going through the book itself, author, publisher. We then delve into the characters that are in this story (of which there are plenty). Then we explore Settings, what they are and the different settings that are portrayed throughout the story. In every story, there are conventions that the author uses and this is no different in The Witches, There is Exposition, Rising action, climax and then Resolution. Each of these areas is explored in detail. Plot and Theme are also touched on. This presentation was used over the course of a term as students read through the novel, it was accompanied by worksheets that were generic but could change with the different content in the presentation. i.e. when looking at settings the questions were similar but a different setting was explored each lesson. You could take the bits you need or use it as a whole presentation. A fabulous resource when teaching this novel. P.s - There are some pictures with eyes and a man looking over his shoulder in the upper left of some slides. These are there to remind students to look back through the book at something they have already discussed, or look into something with more detail.

Wonder- R.J.Palacio- Analysis of Structure

Wonder- R.J.Palacio- Analysis of Structure

This lesson explores how structure is used in the story looking at a particular extract. The lesson covers the structure techniques and effects used in the extract (extract and revision sheet of techniques attached). Students are directed through a pre-analysed section of the extract of how to analyse the use of structure and then given the full extract to do this independently. The end result supports students in answering the GCSE styled question "How does Palacio use structure to influence the reader?"
