Exploring Careers: 16 Career Cluster Units BUNDLE

This career unit bundle gives students an introduction to each of the 16 Career Clusters and focuses on research and projects to demonstrate what a career in this field would be like. This is perfect for a career, technology, CTE or business class. Each career cluster unit takes from 1-2 weeks and the entire bundle takes approximately 28 weeks if all of the materials are used. All units are available individually, if you prefer. The project was created for grades 7-8 but could easily be used with high school students. The teacher can choose to use some or all of the provided lesson options included in each unit. Unit plans for the following career clusters are included: • Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources • Architecture & Construction • Arts, A/V Technology & Communications • Business Management & Administration • Education & Training • Finance • Government & Public Administration • Health Science • Hospitality & Tourism • Human Services • Information Technology • Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security • Manufacturing • Marketing, Sales & Service • Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) • Transportation, Distribution & Logistics Each unit contains the following: • Teacher & Student Resources for the specific career cluster: including list of files provided, project duration, materials needed, links to research sites, links to related videos and extension lessons, links to tutorials. • Introduction to the Career Cluster – Editable Microsoft PowerPoint presentation • Introduction to the Career Cluster Research Reading and Questions • Vocabulary Crossword Puzzle (includes answer key) • Job Type Word Search Puzzle (includes answer key) • Individual Student Project (technology based) to research and or simulate the career. These include full student instructions, grading rubric. Resources, samples, and/or tutorials are included where appropriate. • Group Project (most are NOT technology based or just need access to a computer briefly for research) to use critical thinking and teamwork skills in a career simulation. These include full student instructions, grading rubric, handouts for brainstorming/compiling information. Exploring Careers: Information Technology

This career unit gives students an introduction to the Information Technology career cluster and what a career in this field would be like. This is perfect for a career, technology, CTE or business class. The included PowerPoint presentation can be used by the teacher for whole class instruction, or provided to the students electronically (or as a printout) for them to review individually. Students use close reading skills with a short informational passage to learn about the career field and answer questions to use critical thinking skills and demonstrate their understanding. Two different puzzles are included to learn different jobs in the career and to reinforce vocabulary skills. An individual project to create a web site using Weebly (www.weebly.com) offers students an opportunity for a real-life look into this career. A group project to learn more about cybersecurity is provided to allow students to utilize critical thinking skills and teamwork. Finally, a short reflection questionnaire gives students the opportunity to reflect and analyze their learning as they determine if this career field is of interest to them. The project was created for grades 7-8 but could easily be used with high school students. The teacher can choose to use some or all of the provided lesson options included in this resource. These resources would complement the delivery of a Physiology based lesson with each of the PowerPoint's being focused on different long term responses of the body systems to exercise. The resources are ideally aimed at age groups between 14-18 with there previous use being to help with the deliver of a Physiology unit within a BTEC sport qualification. I have included all of the resources as a package. Each of the PowerPoint's are supported by learning aims and objectives as well as learner centered tasks to support some of the theory content that are included within the slides. There are also starter activities at the start of each presentation to recap on the previous section.

Designed for BTEC Level 3 Public Services but would be suitable for level 2 students. Covers P3 for Unit 8 War and Terrorism. Has a recap on prior lessons where they created drawings of what a terrorist looks like and who the IRA are, videos on the mindset of terrorists, 911 news video footage, an activity to challenge the students idea of what a terrorist is, methods of terrorists activity, scenarios to write a news article as part of P3. (I used this as part of a wall display which I then photographed as evidence)
