A booklet containing exam questions on standard form. Based on the wonderful revision booklets created by tes user a51_ufo. Page 3 contains some key information but the document setup does allow for the page to be omitted when printed if using as an assessment. I have included the mark scheme however the question numbers don't match with those in the booklet- the answers are in the same order as the booklet. The PDF mark scheme works well projected on an Interactive whiteboard for self assessment. Estimating Square Roots

Estimating Square Roots

The lesson starts with a quick recap of square and cube roots which all have integer values. Students are then asked what the square root of 32 is. It's not an integer, but we can find an approximate value by determining which 2 integers its value lies. Some examples of how to do this are given, then there are some basic fluency questions. To make things a bit more interesting/challenging, there is also some work on solving basic quadratics provided. Rather than leaving the answers as a surd, I get pupils to give me approximate answers, so that they get some more practice estimating square roots! Answers to all questions are given, and no printing is required.

Exponent Rules and Exponent Properties Math Stations

These integers math stations are perfect to engage students in discovering the properties of exponents. Students will develop a deep understanding of exponent properties after completing these math stations. There are four math stations. Three stations are created with the intent that students will discover the “rules” for exponent properties through expanding expressions. The following math stations are included: • Multiplying Powers: Students analyze models of multiplying powers. The models expand the powers then cancel and combine. Students discover the exponent rule of multiplying powers. • Dividing Powers: Students analyze models of dividing powers. The models expand the powers then cancel and combine. Students discover the exponent power of dividing powers. • Power to a Power: Students analyze models of powers to a power. The models expand the power, then cancels and combines. Students discover the exponent rule of power to a power. • Exponent Patterns: Students analyze tables of exponents patterns. Students make sense of the patterns and discover what a number raised to zero equals and a number raised to a negative number represents. These would also be great to use as homework, group work or assessments. A recording sheet and answer sheet are included. These math centers are aligned with common core 8.EE.A.1
