Kurt Schwitters, quotes by the German artist on life & art in non-political Dada - free art-resource for students, pupils and art teachers
Kurt Schwitters was a German Dadaist sculptor, painter, poet and writer. He represented as essential Dada artist the non-political Dada in Germany. He organized Dada-meetings, o.a. in The Netherlands, together with Theo van Doesburg.
Schwitters had to move to Norway in the 1930’s and later to England, to escape the terror of Nazism. He became famous for his many glued collages.
Schwitters refers in his quotes to his own created Dada art, like the many glued collages he made and his Dada-poems (he partly created with Hans Arp) and to his installation art ‘Merz-bau’ and his music-piece the ‘Ursonate’.
