Physical Descriptions in Spanish

Physical Descriptions in Spanish

These worksheets introduce Spanish vocabulary relating to physical and personality descriptions and also gets students to practise what they have learnt. *While they suit all ages, these worksheets were designed particularly with late teenage/adult learners in mind. They have only been categorised as 11-14 because this is when this topic is usually taught in schools.* It includes: - a vocabulary list with around 60 words/phrases. - 4 simple translations from Spanish into English - a "circle the correct answers" exercise - an exercise where students have to describe people they see photos - 4 simple translations from English into Spanish - 3 short creative writing exercises where students describe celebrities. Ideas for differentiation/expansion: - in the final exercise (describing celebrities), students could be encouraged to find new vocabulary in the dictionary, e.g. "Make sure to include 2 words that don't appear in the vocabulary list". - in the final exercise, students could write a much more descriptive profile of the celebrities, by including age, profession, likes/dislikes, etc. - students could describe the people in the photos that appear in Exercise 2.

Spanish: Ages, Birthday, Eyes & Hair

Spanish: Ages, Birthday, Eyes & Hair

A resource I used for beginner Spanish. It is a bad translation which could be used in the following ways: Page 1 is a Spanish text and a "badly translated" English version. Pupils must compare both versions. They highlight the mistakes on the English on and correct them. There are 25 mistakes to find. Page 2 offers a gap fill activity which is subsequently used to do the bad translation. Page 3 contains the gapped words which can be offered for differentiation purposes. Page 4 is the answer key. The green words are the words used in the gap fill. The yellow words are the badly translated English words. I find this kind of task can engage even the most reluctant of learners. Also helps to make it competitive.

Claim the parcel translation game Yo y familia New GCSE Viva AQA

Claim the parcel translation game Yo y familia New GCSE Viva AQA

Claim the parcel translation game Activity for revising different verb tenses and topics from new GCSE AQA books. You have a table with different verbs tenses/sentences and project it on your interactive whiteboard/wall. In groups of 2 (max 3) they write the answer in Spanish to one of the parcels/boxes on their mini white boards, come to you at the front of the class (you check) and if they have the answer correct they can claim the parcel/box. You write their names/team name on a post it notes and stick it over the parcel/box on the interactive whiteboard. Then, no one can do this parcel/box anymore. The winner is the group to have most parcels/boxes claimed at the end. Works well as end of module revision or translation practice. Don't forget to feedback!

Spanish-speaker profiles

Spanish-speaker profiles

Reading, speaking and listening practice. Can also be used as a framework for a writing activity. In pairs: Give students a profile each and a set of questions to ask each other. They can refer to the profiles to give their answers using first or second person. To challenge some students, ask them to create their own questions to discover more about their partner, or begin inventing new information about their character. They can also use the examples to create their own profiles for Spanish speakers or as a structure to begin building up a description of their own life or friends. Lots of options. Please feel free to give feedback if you spot any mistakes.

Each booklet includes key phrases based on 'family / friends/ future plans', from theme 1 of new GSCE AQA exam specification.
