The Parable of the Mustard Seed - RE lesson book mark making

The Parable of the Mustard Seed - RE lesson book mark making

Make a bookmark RE activity Have you ever seen a mustard seed? The mustard seed was, at the time, believed to be the smallest of all seeds. It is so small that if you were holding one in your hand and you dropped it you would have a very hard time finding it because it is so hard to see. Even though the mustard seed is so small when it is planted in the ground, it grows into a tree large enough for birds to stand on its branches and to make their nests in it. When you look at this little mustard seed before planting it in the ground, you might think it would be impossible for a seed so tiny to grow into a tree. But God turns that tiny seed into a wonderful place for birds to come and rest and sing. When Jesus told this parable He compared it to loving God. When children, like you, or adults begin to love Jesus, their love is like a tiny mustard seed before it is planted in the ground. It starts out very small at first. Then when you keep on listening to what Jesus says and obeying Him, then the love grows bigger and bigger. Soon it will grow like the big mustard tree. You can also find this parable in Mark 4:30-32; and Luke 13:18-19.

Hinduism - A Mysterious Beast, Brahman And Other Hindu Gods

Hinduism - A Mysterious Beast, Brahman And Other Hindu Gods

The best way to illustrate the diversity of Hinduism is through the story of ‘A Mysterious Beast.’ A ‘Mysterious Beast’ (essentially an elephant!) came to the Land of the Blind; the king set his courtiers to find out what it was. Each man described a different part of the elephant, all the men in the story are correct and telling the truth but only in part, as with the elephant, Hinduism is made up of many parts, though beneath all this verity there is one unchanging reality: Brahman. Brahman is believed to be the underpinning spirit of the world and to be found in everything. He has many different characteristics represented in different forms which are called avatars, or murtis. There are thousands of gods and goddesses whom which Hindus can worship, all with their own special individual characteristics, which allow followers to choose their own deities. Many believe all these gods and goddesses are different aspects of the unchanging ultimate supreme Brahman. These worksheets include a game which explains how each part of the elephant is described by the blind men and asks the students to explain how this is linked to the Hindu religion. In groups the students are given an opportunity to create a poster which will come together with the rest of the class to show as many of the Hindu god and goddesses as possible – possibly about 30 depending in the size of your class (!)

Job Spec for God, Year 3 RE

Job Spec for God, Year 3 RE

Hi all, A part of our Year 3 curriculum, we discuss what our perceptions of God are. This is a simple yet enjoyable sheet for the children to share their ideas of what they think God is like, or what they might want God to be like if they don't have a faith/belief. Kind of a 'Job description' for God. As a class, we'll have looked at Sikhism and their perception of God as a starting point to the lesson. Once we've brainstormed/shared ideas, the children can fill in the sheet. The sheet is completely editable, so feel free to change bits to suit your lesson/needs. Cheers, Emlo

Prayer Lanterns Iuminaries - Prayers on the go

Prayer Lanterns Iuminaries - Prayers on the go

Are you having difficulty “teaching” children to “learn” or even “get motivated” to say prayers each day? I know as a parent or even religious educator, that you worry that unless you make prayer fun your students/children, they will associate it with unpleasantness and grow to avoid it all costs. Prayer is all about relationships between yourself, your family and God. Prayer should not be perceived as a “chore” for children. This is a legitimate concern. So how do you make prayer fun and establish a foundation for your children? This engaging educational artifact is your answer! These Prayer Lanterns are like nothing you have seen before. Dim the lights and watch these Lantern’s radiate. Your students will be instantly engaged and want to not only participate, but have ownership of their personal lantern. The low light allows the prayers to read in complete darkness. Add this engaging teaching artifact to your family home-alter or even use while in church. The following Prayer Lanterns are included: Prayer Lantern [Version A- made for Stacy G. on 01-14-17.]: Act of Hope The Prayer of St. Francis The Morning Offering Act of Faith Act of Love Prayer Cube [Version B] The Lord's Prayer Hail Mary Glory Be Act of Contrition Angel of God Prayer Cube [Version C] Morning Prayer Evening Prayer Prayer after Mass Prayer after Communion Charity Prayer Prayer Cube & Lantern [Version D & E] The Eight Beatitudes Evening Prayer The Lord's Prayer The Apostles' Creed The Ten Commandments

Are you teaching Easter? Are you looking for a wide range of different, colourful images to help you

Are you teaching Easter? Are you looking for a wide range of different, colourful images to help your teaching or provide a quick and simple display? I have collected together 30 different images of Easter for you to share with your class. It comes complete with a 31 Teaching Activity Teacher Guide to help you get the most out of your teaching and this purchase. You could look at it directly as a presentation and discuss the different materials being shown in each of photos. You could print off and laminate the photos to make an interesting, eye-catching display about Easter. The students could also take the laminated photos and sort them into different Easter features. The students can then discuss why each one represents Easter.
