LATIN NUMBERS 1-20 WITH ROMAN NUMERALS AUTUMN GAMES CARDS & REFERENCE SHEET

LATIN NUMBERS 1-20 WITH ROMAN NUMERALS AUTUMN GAMES CARDS & REFERENCE SHEET

PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING LATIN LANGUAGE SKILLS AS WELL AS PRACTISING NUMBERS AND ROMAN NUMERALS! NUMBERS AND ROMAN NUMERALS GAMES CARDS are perfect for young learners of LATIN. They provide lots of opportunities to learn both numbers and Roman numerals 1-20, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Children can develop their skills in word recognition and recall in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. It doesn’t if all the numbers and Roman numerals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the card games encourage children to engage happily and confidently with LATIN and to begin to identify similarities with ENGLISH. Children often ask what a LATIN accent sounds like. The truth is that we don’t actually know for sure, because there are no native speakers of LATIN any more. However, I always enjoy using somewhat of an ITALIAN accent where possible! There are 80 CARDS in total, which include 2 PACKS of 40 CARDS to enable you to vary and differentiate your games: PACK 1: matching LATIN & ENGLISH word cards, with the number written in letters. The ENGLISH cards have a blackline frame. To keep costs down, simply print all the cards using just black ink. PACK 2: this pack features the Roman numeral with a matching digit card. Of course, you can simply mix and match both sets, according to how you and your children want to play! Play the games regularly for maximum benefit - the’re always really popular, not just at HALLOWEEN! Playing against a timer adds some extra fun - can children beat their own time record? Print each page out individually and single-sided only, laminate and cut out so that you have 40 single cards per pack - you can see exemplar game cards on the title page. Laminating the cards means you’ll be able to use them in your LATIN classroom for many years to come. I’ve included a reference sheet for children to read through before they play, or refer to as they play. The sheet can be shared between small groups of children, or distributed individually for children to file in their workbooks or learning folders for future reference. The resource consists of 2 non-editable files in a zipped format. Please read the TERMS OF USE carefully: the resource is copyright, and for single-teacher/purchaser use only. GRATIA PLENA!

PRIMARY LATIN - 20 FRUITS & VEGETABLES DISPLAY POSTERS / FLASHCARDS

PRIMARY LATIN - 20 FRUITS & VEGETABLES DISPLAY POSTERS / FLASHCARDS

CREATE AN INSTANT INTRODUCTION TO FRUITS AND VEGETABLES IN LATIN IN YOUR CLASSROOM - PERFECT FOR READING AND SPEAKING PROMPTS TOO! BENE SAPIAT! display posters / flashcards create an instant introduction to 20 scrumptious fruits and vegetables in LATIN in your classroom. They also give your learning environment a fabulous LATIN look and feel, promoting LATIN as a ‘real’ language, featuring in the everyday life of your learners. The posters / flashcards introduce learners to a range of fruits and vegetables in LATIN from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarise themselves with both the ‘look’ of LATIN words, and how those words are represented in the written form. The fruits and vegetables are in either the singular or plural form, with a selection of masculine, feminine and neuter nouns. This is a great opportunity to begin to compare LATIN to English. Looking at language, and the ways it works, either similarly to, or differently from, English, helps learners become implicitly aware of linguistic concepts in both languages, and how nouns may change from the singular to the plural. This is really useful for both current and later learning. It doesn’t matter if some of the fruits and vegetables don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the posters / flashcards provide learners with daily opportunities to engage with LATIN, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words, to identify cognates, and to begin to identify patterns in language. Likewise, they help learners begin to work out the meaning of new and unknown words from visual and linguistic clues or prompts - for example, encourage learners to look at the neuter nouns, and how they frequently end in ’m’, and at how feminine plural nouns frequently end in ’ae’. Along the way, learners will enhance their vocabulary in English - who can recognise ‘citrus’ from the word for lemon? Learners can also suggest other fruits and vegetables to add to the display, looking for the correct LATIN words in a bilingual dictionary, and may even choose to try some fruits and vegetables they haven’t tasted before! The fruits and vegetables featured are: - apple - bananas - grapes - lemon - orange - peach - pear - raspberry - strawberry - watermelon - broccoli - cabbage - carrots - cauliflower -cucumber - lettuce - mushrooms - onion - potatoes - tomato The resource consists of two non-editable files. Please read the TERMS OF USE carefully - the posters are copyright, and for single-teacher/purchaser use only. GRATIA PLENA ET BENE SAPIAT!
