Google Tour Creator- Creating a FREE web-based Google Street Maps Based 'Virtual Tour'

Google Tour Creator- Creating a FREE web-based Google Street Maps Based 'Virtual Tour'

Google Tour Creator is a FREE web-based tool lets you build a VR ‘tour’ using Google Street View imagery and the bonus is that you can even add your own 360 photos, if you have that available. The interface is designed with educators and pupil in mind and is all simply drag-and-drop. The flexibility of tour creator is that you can choose any points of interest within the Google Street View maps and add extra texts, or points of interest if you like. With the Virtual Tour you can save any tour you have made and also publish it, for public or private use. The ability to import tours to the Google Expeditions app is not available yet but will be very soon states Google. Being able to create an Expedition and share it with a classroom of pupils is a great opportunity for technology being able to bring people closer, to understand other people worlds. Not every pupil will need a VR headset as this can be created and used on a laptop attached to an interactive whiteboard, but for those that are lucky enough to have a class set the sense of immersion and engagement would be outstanding I think. This presentation informs you what Google Tour Creator is and I have created a simple model that can be used to show pupils as an example.

Who Lives In The City?

Who Lives In The City?

Brazil’s cities are renowned for their rich/poor divide. Favelas, the term used in Brazil for the shanty towns, have grown up on the outskirts of urban areas since the late 19th century. The people who arrive in the city are usually very poor. They have come from the countryside believing the city will be a better place to live providing them with jobs, money and a brighter future for their families. These worksheets put the students in these people shoes and have them try to make the difficult decisions poor people in Brazil, as well as other countries, have to make about moving, once moved and dealing with their choices.

Graffiti

A collection of photos that I am putting together for my students as I row my boat solo around the coast of Great Britain. The theme for this curation is graffiti through the ages. I will be using these pictures in relation to World War Two soldiers, the relationship between people and their environs, and the artistic and cultural side, as well as the impact on where we live. Please leave me a review and I will send you any other resource of your choice for free (contact me: office@oceansproject.com). Is poverty & wealth equally distributed?

Is poverty & wealth equally distributed?

The best variation of the cake game! Very topical today given the European migrant issue. All the numbers have been calculated accurately for any class size from 24 to 32. Furthermore it is easy to set up. No images as one of the aims is to tackle perceived ideas as an introduction to development and the Millennium goals. Not only is the cake already divided but each member (pupil) of each country must bargain for their share of the cake and they must negotiate with other countries for a greater portion of the cake. Furthermore individuals within countries must decide whether to migrate or not whilst host countries have to decide on whether to allow migrants in. Lots of self & peer review and green pen action. Based on the facingfutures.org resource it took a VERY long time to get the percentages correct for each pupil so please review this lesson when you buy it.

The consequences of uneven development

The consequences of uneven development

This lesson, with all resources gives students the chance to explore and discuss the ways in which development can be mapped and shown. Following on from this, students explore the problems of mapping development through gross domestic produce with a focus on the United Arab Emirates and Dubai. Information is differentiated. This lesson would fit well into a human geography SoW which involved the analysis of MEDCs and LEDCs

Christian Aid Week Conversation Starter PowerPoint Presentation

Christian Aid Week Conversation Starter PowerPoint Presentation

I have used a wide range of inspirations to create a fun conversation starting lesson about Christian Aid week. This lesson looks at different issues which may be covered in Christian Aid week such as what is war, what is peace, what is a home and how we can help our fellow man, woman and child. I have started using conversation starters in my own lessons with great effect and I think you will also enjoy using them in your own lessons. As stated in the presentation, while these resources will help you present your Christian Aid week lessons in class, I have no connection with Christian Aid.
