Application of Computational Thinking in Drama

Application of Computational Thinking in Drama

Download my poster which includes example task ideas on how to apply computational thinking problem solving skills to Drama. The poster includes a range of tasks and classroom ideas that use key computational thinking skills! Computational Thinking is a skill set that can be used across the curriculum, not just within computer science! The logical approach to solving a problem means that it’s application can be used to develop and improve students ability to deal with difficult problems in a more rational way. The aim of my posters is to make you realise that many of the brilliant tasks that teachers facilitate week in, week out actually include computational thinking. It’s just a matter of making it more explicit! Update: High Resolution 2560x1440 in both PNG & JPEG Please leave a review!!!

Exploring WW2 Through Drama

Exploring WW2 Through Drama

A short scheme, suitable for KS2 and KS3, that uses drama to explore elements of WW2. It covers issues facing children at home and as evacuees during the Second World War and provides lots of opportunities for discussion, interaction, and the sharing of information. The scheme is presented as one long unit but can easily be divided into separate lessons or bitesize pieces for the classroom. Drama methods include freezes, role play, improvisation, hotseating, mime and writing in role. The unit is brilliant as a springboard for further WW2 work, or to further reinforce WW2 topic work. If you liked this resource and found it useful, please spare a moment of your valuable time to leave a positive review. Thanks everso!

Perilous Tales One Act Preview

Perilous Tales One Act Preview

A sample of the script for FREE For teenagers to work on in workshops or as a one act performance piece These are: Dark, twisted cautionary tales With diverse and strange characters They require a very versatile set and costumes Also a lot of physical theatre / comedy Very challenging and demanding for a ensemble company Mask work Four somewhat dark and slightly twisted sketches (can be bought separately as sketches as well) linked together to provide four cautionary tales in a one act storytelling experience. In Tale One we meet Cedic and Sybil, two characters intent on never changing and hanging on to their happiness no matter what the cost. In Tale Two the dreadful Princess Loki risks everything to find her own song as she stampedes through her spoilt life. In Tale Three the vain (and rather stupid) Gorgeous Gerald is stalked by a Ghost who wants to live again in a really handsome body to win back his wife Imelda. Finally Ed and Molly Grimble play one computer game too many… The tales are performed ‘cartoon’ fashion by an ensemble cast, with the use of many props, costumes creative settings, and, if you like, you could fit in a handful of puppets somewhere (the original production used puppets at times to link the tales).

Dark Comic Sketch for Drama Workshops

Dark Comic Sketch for Drama Workshops

The Grimbles’ Last Game - a sketch for teenage drama students Great to explore ensemble cast work with a number of speaking roles Mask work and ‘games’ are included Physical theatre Challenging and creative A dark, surreal and comic tale For the PERILOUS TALES collection of surreal and slightly dark cautionary tales by Offbeat Theatre’s Barbara Hockley An excellent opportunity to use bizarre costumes and masks A dance number is required at the end - anything you like… Dark, surreal and completely off the wall Ed and Molly Grimble play computer games all the time - in fact, they do little else. But when they buy a new one from the mysterious Zed they get more than they bargained for. The game plan doesn’t seem to exist, there are no rules (apart from the ones Zed makes up) and on the first level they have to tackle apathy. How far will they get? Can they be bothered to get through Level One? Is Zed making it up, or is making it up part of the plan? Is there a plan? How important is it to ‘win’… If they do manage to get to the end… what sort of reward might they expect? This is for WORKSHOP use only, but can be performed with a licence.

OCR GCSE Drama Concept Pro-Forma Guidance Booklet

OCR GCSE Drama Concept Pro-Forma Guidance Booklet

Here is a detailed guidance booklet for the OCR 'Presenting and Performing Texts' unit of the GCSE Drama qualification. Having recently had the examiner visit our school for this unit (former chief examiner David Cross I might add!) it was mentioned that the centre's concept pro-formas were particularly strong and effective. I have further updated and improved this booklet based on his feedback, so you can be sure that this has exactly what your visiting examiner will be looking for! This booklet covers all the questions on the concept pro-forma individually. For each question: * Students are given a breakdown of what the question is asking them to do, along with detailed guidance on how best to tackle the question * Top Tips for each question, along with suggested activities they can do to help them successfully prepare for the questions * Detailed exemplars (in this booklet I use DNA as the exemplar text) for each and every question in order to model strong responses. This is everything your students need to successfully tackle the pro-forma and to make the best possible impression with the visiting examiner! Buy in confidence from a TES recommended gold author!
