Caring for the Environment

Caring for the Environment

How do children around the world care for the environment? What do your class do to look after their community? And can your class put some of their ideas into action at school? These teaching activities use the Global Gang website to explore how we can all play a role in looking after our planet and invite your class to take up the challenge!

Geography/History MTP

Geography/History MTP

This is a term’s MTP, covering geography unit 6 ‘investigating our local area’, and history unit 18 ‘What was it like to live here in the past?’, usually covered in year 3/4, although I’m teaching it to year 6. It it based upon the unit plan from QCA, but with some adaptations and some different activities included. The red part to the plan is a rough guide, as I need to discuss these parts with the other year 6 teacher before settling details.

En route, it has shaped the landscape, powered industry and impacted on the lives of millions of people. Travelling downstream we explore seven snapshots of the River Severn, from the source. From waterfalls to meanders to the spectacle of the Severn Bore this is an engaging portrait of the upper, middle and lower courses of Britain's longest river and those individuals who are influenced by it.
