Years 1 -6 writing self-assessment sheets

Years 1 -6 writing self-assessment sheets

These sheets cover the writing descriptors for years 1 / 2, years 3 / 4 and years 5/ 6. They are written in language aimed at the pupils and suitable for self-assessment of writing. I don't recommend being a slave to the assessment criteria - setting great, creative writing tasks is the best approach. However, these may be useful when pupils are taking responsibility for what they need to work on, what they could set as personal targets and where they can be proud of their progress.

Year 5 and 6 Writing Project

Year 5 and 6 Writing Project

This is a project I wrote for Sussex County Cricket Club. The year 5 pupils who completed the project outperformed their peers by 12% in Year 6 the following year. This project has grammar, spelling and punctuation embedded throughout and includes writing opportunities such as a player profile, a sports report and a creative writing task. Please note that the competition referred to is no longer live but there are some fun and challenging activities here for upper key stage 2.
