Initial 'R' resources linked to Colourful Semantics

Initial 'R' resources linked to Colourful Semantics

This is a little pack to concentrate on the sound 'R’ It can be used in one to one Speech and language sessions or as a classroom resource. I know that laminating and cutting out takes a long time but once done they will be a really useful. I like rounded corners as it makes the cards more tactile. I have a corner curved punch which makes this job really easy. I have also popped a few adjectives and verbs in to extend the activities.

10-minute activities aimed for ESL-students

10-minute activities aimed for ESL-students

Having worked for 4 years as a qualified teacher in Denmark, I developed a bundle of icebreakers for English language learners. Improving another language ought to be spiced with fun and engaging activities. I usually use one of my speedtivities (which I’ve named them) in the beginning of the lesson to help them transfer the students’ language. Especially, “Team up and compete” , “The boom game” and “My favourite recipe” help in that regard. Please do pop a review, if you choose to download this resource. You’re also more than welcome to purchase one of my other resources to a reasonable price.

Templates for Marking Spellings by their Syllables

Templates for Marking Spellings by their Syllables

Ten spellings may consist of thirty syllables and it is much more rewarding to gain 15/30 than 1/10. Not only is this great to boost confidence but students soon appreciate the value of learning their prefixes and suffixes. Students can see the same mistakes in different words. Syllables are small manageable chunks to learn, once learned they are transferable into hundreds (and sometimes thousands) of words. These are large font to make laminated dry wipes. Alternatively I print two pages onto A4 landscape, to go into the Lexicology A5 workbooks. ESL GRAMMAR CARDS FOR BEGINNERS

ESL GRAMMAR CARDS FOR BEGINNERS

ESL GRAMMAR CARDS FOR BEGINNERS Teaching simple present third person singular pronouns is challenging for ESL teachers. I don’t particularly enjoy teaching this subject. To make my job easier and add a little bit fun, I have created ESL grammar cards for my fifth grade ESL students. There are 80 cards. The first twenty covers only positive sentences, the second twenty negative sentences, the third twenty questions, the fourth twenty is about exercises. The procedure works this way: students get a card, they copy the card in their notebook, they fill in the blanks in the notebook, not on the card, they write their names at the back of the card, they return the card and get a new one. You can work it out on your own way. Students finish from 4 to 10 grammar cards in one single lesson. While they are busy with their cards, I walk around the class and see how they are doing. They go crazy for this activity. It is worth the effort.

This resource includes 2 worksheets in which the children must solve what term is what and then write an example. They must finally find the terminology token and stick in correct box of the sheet. Hope this helps! Thanks.
