Back to School Maths / Literacy Activities BUNDLE (Year 1 / P2)

Back to School Maths / Literacy Activities BUNDLE (Year 1 / P2)

Activities for the first week back at school after the summer with a new Year 1 class (P2 and other equivalents). These resources will suit some Key Stage 1 (KS1) Year 1 classes / groups in the first few days and weeks back, while others might benefit from them at another time. ADDITION TO 20 GAMES 2 Self-Check Board Games for pupils to get lots of consolidation. Ideal for keeping groups meaningfully busy if you are teaching others. For differentiation, the two boards are at different levels, with one containing more challenging calculations such as those involving missing numbers. SELF-CHECK ADD AND SUBTRACT TO 20 TRAILS AND BINGO 36 Trails for pupils to complete with a whiteboard pen once laminated. They can also be used as unlaminated worksheets if required. Pupils keep a running total as they work their way around the calculations in a spiral, until they reach the answer in the centre and are able to see if they have gone wrong. There is also a bingo game for adding and subtracting to 20. JUMBLED SENTENCES A full class set of 30 different reusable sentence building boards. Emergent writers love lifting the words off to unscramble them to find the hidden simple sentence. With an engaging picture clue and title on each board, this word sequencing resource suits a range of learning styles. Pupils rearrange their words into the correct order on the board before writing the sentence out themselves on the lines provided, using a dry-wipe pen. They could then copy the sentence into their jotter if required. Regular practice of making sentences in this way should help pupils begin to form sentences independently. Each mixed-up sentence contains a word beginning with a capital letter to help children identify the first word and to reinforce this important punctuation rule, and a full stop to pick up and place at the end of their sentence. While constructing these sentences, children also learn about word order, parts of speech and about the fact that a sentence must make sense on its own. These resources are available in some other linked bundles, which you can explore buy clicking on these links: Jumbled Sentences Bundle Add and Subtract Activities Bundle Year 1 / Year 2 / Year 3 Addition and Subtraction to 20 Games Bundle For time-saving, engaging resources to help you plan Primary Literacy, Maths and French lessons, visit FullShelf Resources

Multiplying and Dividing Negative Numbers - Full lesson with answers, quizzes & exam style questions

Multiplying and Dividing Negative Numbers - Full lesson with answers, quizzes & exam style questions

(All answers are provided) I've designed this Lesson to allow students to explore multiplying and dividing negative numbers building up from the basic pictorial through the use of counters and coming to identifying quicker methods/ rules. This then leads to 6 basic examples of mutliplication questions such as -2 x 3 and -2 x -3. The examples are broken into to groups of 2 and are each followed by four questions for students to try. Answers are given with full pictorial and written solutions. This leads to a class discussion on quicker methods now that they why is understood. Student have the pictorial to fall back on if they get stuck. There is then a similar structure for division of negative numbers. A true or false activity to be used as a discussion point over the generalisation of how rules work. There is a Bingo quiz activity which can be used to help stop misconceptions before the main differentiated activity. The resource then in includes a differentiated focused activity which progressively gets harder. This gives students a chance to master and enhance their skills. It includes 5 separate sections a skill 1, 2 & 3 and a stretch 1 & 2. These are all displayed on the same slide for ease of use. Then to finish there is an application on how this could be seen in an exam situation including answers. I hope you find this resource as useful as my students have. Miss B Bonus Materials There is an extra challenge slide of an multiplication grid of negative numbers. There is also a mixed challenge activity to be used with students once they have learnt how to add, subtract, multiply and divide negative numbers. I have attached printable versions of the grid I use throughout the slides. I often laminate them for the students to do the examples with me in lessons)

Back to School Maths Activities BUNDLE (Year 6 / P7)

Back to School Maths Activities BUNDLE (Year 6 / P7)

Easy to prepare Key Stage 2 Maths games and activities, ideal for the first week back at school with a new class or to stock up your maths shelf for use throughout the year. As a revision and consolidation pack, this best suits Year 6 (P7 and other equivalents), although the resources would suit some younger classes / groups if all included concepts have been covered. After the holidays, before teaching any new aspects of maths, you can get pupils improving their mental agility with these fun Crossnumber puzzles (featuring addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, decimals). You can have them work on those times tables they've forgotten over the summer with these Four in a Row games. Plus you can have them work independently or collaboratively on these mostly multi-step Word Problems challenge cards - a key area to come back to over and over again to ensure pupils can use the four operations in context. Please click on the resources to see previews and more detailed information about each one. I hope this bundle saves you time and helps to get your pupils off to a flying start without you having to do a whole load of planning in the first few days. If you can spare a moment I would be grateful for any reviews. Many thanks.
