Year 4 Maths BUNDLE

This resource is a BUNDLE of all of the different strands of the 2014 National Curriculum of England’s Maths objectives for Year 4 in NUMBER &amp; PLACE VALUE; OPERATIONS; FRACTIONS &amp; DECIMALS; MEASUREMENT; AND PROPERTIES OF SHAPE. ADDITIONALLY there are HANDS-ON FRACTION &amp; DECIMAL AND MEASUREMENT PRACTICE WITH FOOD AND PAPER AIRPLANES for children to apply their understanding in context with donuts and lemonade. The pack can be used for reinforcement, in Maths centres for review, Morning Maths work, as well as for home learning tasks.

Year 4 Maths: Operations

This resource has been made using the operations objectives for Year 4 from the 2014 National Curriculum of England: Add and subtract numbers with up to 4 digits using the formal written methods of columnar addition and subtraction where appropriate Estimate and use inverse operations to check answers to a calculation Solve addition and subtraction two-step problems in contexts, deciding which operations and methods to use and why Recall multiplication and division facts for multiplication tables up to 12 x 12 Use place value, known and derived facts to multiply and divide mentally, including: multiplying by 0 and 1; dividing by 1; multiplying together three numbers Recognise and use factor pairs and commutativity in mental calculations Multiply two-digit and three-digit numbers by a one-digit number using formal written layout Solve problems involving multiplying and adding, including using the distributive law to multiply two digit numbers by one digit, integer scaling problems and harder correspondence problems such as n objects are connected to m objects The pack can be used for reinforcement, in Maths centres for review, Morning Maths work, as well as for home learning tasks.

Year 4 Maths: Number & Place Value

This resource has been made using the NUMBER AND PLACE VALUE OBJECTIVES for Year 4 from the 2014 National Curriculum of England: Count in multiples of 6, 7, 9, 25 and 1000 Find 1000 more or less than a given number Count backwards through zero to include negative numbers Recognise the place value of each digit in a four-digit number (thousands, hundreds, tens, and ones) Order and compare numbers beyond 1000 Identify, represent and estimate numbers using different representations Round any number to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000 Solve number and practical problems that involve number sense and with increasingly large positive numbers Read Roman numerals to 100 (I to C) and know that over time, the numeral system changed to include the concept of zero and place value The pack can be used for reinforcement, in Maths centres for review, Morning Maths work, as well as for home learning tasks.

Large A3 pictorial numberline for KS1

This a set of number lines for use with younger children or to support older children with addition and subtraction within 0-20. Each number has a pictorial representation underneath to show children the exact value of each numeral and how value increases or decreases in line with addition and subtraction. In my class, I’ve cut these out and laminated them as a permanent resource.

Year 4 rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000 lesson

A rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000 lesson following the new White Rose scheme of learning (from 2017). I have previously taught rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000 in the Autumn term so I have created this lesson as a recap. I have used this lesson to aid my not so confident mathematicians and identify my Greater Depth children. Based on Singapore Maths (Maths No Problem - the only book recommended by the DfE) All maths lessons at my school follow this structure: Fluency recap - something they have done before, get them thinking. Useful vocabulary slide - children to add to the slide as you go through the topic/unit. The teaching aspect of the lesson. Identifying/creating Steps 2 Success (S2S) Children go away and complete their activity. There is one activity for all children. The first few questions (1-3) are aimed at ARE. The questions get harder as they progress the final questions are the ones where you can identify your Greater Depth children as those questions require reasoning and explanations to the questions. The differentiation within the lesson is the equipment provided and the support given to the children. Dong Nao Ting. A plenary that all children complete in their books. The question is taken from the mastery document. This will again clearly identify your GD children. Some children wont be able to answer the question but they can have an attempt at it. I have taught this lesson in Year 4 but could easily be adapted for UKS2.
