World Cup Maths Week

A week of maths that I have planned to run alongside the world cup. It is aimed at year 5 but could easily be adapted to suit others. It covers a range of curriculum areas such as addition, rounding, interpreting timetables etc. I have included all of the images, resources etc that I used to allow for it to be edited. The resource doesn’t upload in the present folders so the order is as follows Day 1 - Day one task and team sheet with wages Day 2 - Question one, question two and question three Day 3 - Question sheet Day 4 - Stadium overview Day 5 - Table of players SMART presentation begins each day Images aren’t required for the lessons. I have included them in case you wanted to adapt, change or completely redo the planning.

A week long unit intending to consolidate understanding of time. Pitched at Year Three but could also work for Year Four. All activities have a choice of ‘levels’ mild, warm or spicy with the exception to Thursday (word problems) which has one worksheet for all. Also includes some starters.There is a ‘teacher’ slide before each lesson which acts as the plan. LI’s covered… LI: To tell and show the time to the nearest minute using analogue clocks. Success Criteria: -I know what the different numbers and hands represent. -I can explain whether it is ‘past’ or ‘to’. -I can show the correct time on an analogue clock. LI: To read and show time on 12-hour and 24-hour clocks. Success Criteria: -I know there are 24 hours in a day. -I know that digital time has hours first, then minutes. -I can explain what time is shown on a digital clock. LI: To convert between digital and analogue clocks. Success Criteria: -I know the difference between analogue and digital. -I can explain how to convert between different clocks. I can successfully read different clock faces. LI: To solve problems involving time. KS3 Mathematics Starter Bundle

KS3 Mathematics Starter Bundle

This is a collection of 8 different resources and approximately 60 different Excel tabs. I use these as a premise for my starters with a mix of abilities from year 7-9. Each worksheet is differentiated, so you can give students varying sheets, or request they work from varying sections of the interactive whiteboard, whilst still providing them with the same answers. They foster a calm start to the lesson, and students always seem excited to learn when the lesson is started in this manner. The addition pyramids contain a self-check tool, so children can usefully self mark. The multiplication grid generator, includes an exciting ‘challenge’ sheet in which students have to work backwards to work out the row and column headers (using similiar skills to Sudoku). In addition to this the Cross number, and the times table grid excitingly contain a magic number extension. This involves students having to collate their answers, i.e. summing certain values, to obtain a magic numbers and perhaps win a small prize (sticker, or sweet, or just simple praise). FIFA World Cup 2018: The Ultimate Bundle

Can you feel the excitement brewing for the FIFA World Cup 2018?!? My class cannot stop talking about the World Cup lately. This has driven me to make lots of resources based on the event. In this bundle I’ve included all of the resources I’ve made so far on the World Cup. Included: *A maths activity for children to calculate the distances between the World Cup stadiums and convert the units. *A maths game involving children representing a country and answering a maths question to score a ‘goal’. Then competing against other countries to win the final. *Mathematical word problems (and answers) involving the Russian Currency. *2 activities were children engage with designing their own fantasy World cup jersey and team. *A maths activity involving children identifying the co-ordinates in which Ronaldo passes to his team mates. Each activity has already sold numerous times on TES and TpT, so by bundling them together I hope it to be of some benefit. I really hope you enjoy these resources as much as my class and I did. This resource contains four sets of resources designed to consolidate some of the work undertaken in the White Rose Maths Scheme small steps Year 6 programme. The theme for this investigation resource is the 2018 Football World Cup. It is intended to be used in weeks 8 - 11 of the Summer Term. The resource contains worksheets and activities on Year 6 National Curriculum Maths Objectives. Worksheets and Activities Set 1 Calculation of the mean age of England’s football squad. Selection of a team from each of the 8 football groups in the World Cup to track performance and complete performance tables. Calculation of percentages on selected statistics of England squad Selection of 5 players from England’s football squad to follow and assess performance in the World Cup. Compilation of data and statistics on players’ performance in tabular form. Pictorial representation of the data in the form of bar charts and pie graphs. Completion of results tables for selected teams and players. Set 2 Triangular Numbers - tasks include the investigation of triangular numbers. This focuses on the completion of group tables, a summative World Cup football group table and the population of the round of 16, quarter-final, semi-final, final and third place play off tables. Percentages and Probability -an investigation into the probability of countries from the different confederations winning the World Cup. Set 3 Tasks on a number of time and number World Cup themed time and number problems. Cost of World Cup match tickets and investigating the best deals. Investigation into the driving and flying distances and times to travel to Moscow. Investigation of the dimensions of football pitches - perimeter and area, length of diagonal, drawing to scale. World Cup players goal statistics comparison card game. Set 4 An investigation into, and comparison of, the statistics for the top 8 World Cup goal scorers involving the calculation of conversion rates for shots at goal and the mean.
