Late Slips

Late Slips

I created these late slips that can be issued to the learners who decide to arrive late to class, saves on the disruption it causes to you and the rest of the class. I used to collect in the slips at the end of the lesson or when the class was completing activities. Embeds both English and Maths skills, hopefully having to fill one of these in everytime will encourage them to be on time to class!

Allows the learners to identify where these areas have been promoted and understand how they can be applied to any subject being taught, gets the learners to think in a wider range. Subjects can be taken out for the activity depending on the topics being taught.

EYFS Assessment and Moderation Guide

EYFS Assessment and Moderation Guide

This Assessment Guide was developed as a result of inconsistent assessment judgements and ineffective assessments. It has been in place 1 year at my current school and has drastically improved the consistency and accuracy of assessment across our EYFS Department. The guide includes: Objectives for each curriculum area of the EYFS Curriculum. Examples of how children may demonstrate objectives. Guidance of what constitutes children emerging, developing or meeting expectation within an age-band. Notes: The guide begins at 16-26 Months to ELG. Some objectives have been added that our department felt should be included in the rounded assessment of a child. These are written in red so you can choose to disregard them if you wish to. This guide is not editable. Once purchased, if you would like an editable version, please let me know.

Growth Mindset Display

Growth Mindset Display

The idea of the display is to encourage students to change their vocabulary. The display is firmly based on the work of Carol Dweck and the idea of fixed and growth mindsets. The display is based on famous individuals who had growth mindsets and using their vocabulary to enhance the learning of the students and to encourage them to put in effort and to try. There is also an opportunity for a mistake and success board as seen in the picture as the central theme of the display, this is where you as a teacher can highlight both successful work and good mistakes. The idea being both really good work and work with lots of mistakes make it to the board, and the students see mistakes and successes as one and the same - There is an image attached to show how this works.

Reading Cycle Professional Development Notes

Reading Cycle Professional Development Notes

This product contains the notes from a professional development session that I attended. It deals with teachers being able to ensure that each student is effectively comprehending text during close reads. To be made clear, during close reading sessions, it is possible that instructors may get what is called a “false positive” or indication that a student understands a concept of the text when they actually do not. **False Positive Prevention Method - ** occurs when students are able to write about and discuss a text with some accuracy after gleaning an understanding of a text from what teachers and peers says about the text, NOT from their own understanding about the text. The Reading Cycle Strategy prevents this situation by taking the READ-DISCUSS-WRITE method to the next level through the following steps: Read-Discuss- Read Read-Write-Read Read -Write Discuss Read-Write -Discuss Read-Discuss-Write-Revise Each of these steps are explained within this product. Thanks for your purchase. We appreciate your support!

Individual Lesson Objective booklet

Individual Lesson Objective booklet

This is a professional, well put together booklet for learners to fill out during a lesson. Each session learners are to give themselves an objective and state what they plan to achieve. The booklet has an example, some ideas of what they could write and words they could use. This document gives learners a target as well as stretch and challenge tasks. This booklet will also show progression over 1 to 36 weeks. It is to the point and easy to fill in. I use this for a particular group of Carpentry learners that do not have a training booklet or any other proof of progression. Ideal for OFSTED and observations.

Interactive Behavior Contracts

Interactive Behavior Contracts

►What’s Included?◄ You will receive: -5 fill-in-the-blank worksheets for students to choose a replacement behavior and reward to work for (in PDF format) ►How to Use◄ A behavior contract is a simple behavior management tool which utilizes positive reinforcement. Simply put, a behavior contract pairs positive behaviors that you would like to see your student perform with rewards that he or she can obtain when they engage in the positive behavior. A few tips on implementation: The positive behavior listed on the behavior contract should take the place of a negative behavior being exhibited by your student, and be stated in positive, goal-oriented terms. For example, a replacement behavior for students who have difficulties talking out of turn could be “I will raise my hand when I need to say something” instead of “I will not talk out of turn.” A replacement behavior for a student who engages in aggressive behaviors towards his or her peers could be “I will keep my hands to myself” instead of “I will not hit or pinch others.” Although the teacher should decide which specific behaviors to select for the behavior contract, allowing your student to offer his or her input regarding the rewards established by the contract will make the student more likely to abide by the terms of the behavior contract. If students do not abide by the terms in the contract, it could be that they did not play a big enough role in the creation of it. Picking an individualized reinforcement that incentivizes your student to engage in appropriate behaviors is key. A reinforcement survey, which can be purchased for $1.00 in my shop, is often helpful to determine what is most reinforcing for each of your students. Allow your students to color a single picture or move objects along a path each time they engage in the predetermined appropriate behavior. Every child will react differently to reward systems. Some children need very little incentive to perform appropriate behaviors, while others will need rewards delivered at a very frequent rate in order to alter maladaptive behaviors. When the latter is the case, teachers can alter the contract terms to make the goals easier to obtain. By doing this, students can obtain their rewards at a faster, more frequent rate. Once they demonstrate that they can consistently engage in the appropriate behavior, teachers can gradually increase the complexity of the replacement behavior or reduce the rate of reward delivery. ► Terms of Use ◄ This artwork is copyrighted by Roots To Growth. Reward Survey

Reward Survey

►What’s Included?◄ You will receive: -A 2 page reinforcement survey (in PDF format) -A scoring key for teachers including directions for interpreting answers (also in PDF format) ►How to Use◄ Have you noticed that some of your students do not respond to even the coolest, most unique classroom rewards? That’s because what’s reinforcing to some children may not always be reinforcing to others. This is what makes every child unique, and also why a reinforcement survey comes in handy. A reinforcement survey can provide valuable insight regarding what type of rewards and incentives your students prefer by allowing each child to give you direct feedback from their own perspective. These surveys are simple to administer and interpret, but the data it provides is invaluable. Ultimately, a reinforcement survey serves the purpose of assisting you when you need to know what motivates a student, what kind of rewards they prefer, and what they will be likely to work for! This reinforcement survey can be used with your entire class at the beginning of the year in order to get to know your students,’ as well as for the creation of a classwide incentive system. Reinforcement surveys can also be used with specific students who may be exhibiting problem behaviors to determine what a student wants to earn in order to increase appropriate classroom behaviors or develop a behavior plan. Simply have students complete the survey and then interpret their answers using the scoring key provided in this download. ► Terms of Use ◄ This artwork is copyrighted by Roots To Growth.
