Loop Card Races (Squares and Cubes)

Loop Card Races (Squares and Cubes)

This download contains four sets of 16 cards. Students choose a set of cards and sort them into order. The questions are the same for each set, but the sort order has been changed. This way, students can repeat the activity with different versions of the cards and check that they have learnt from earlier mistakes. [CLICK HERE] for a list of Loop Cards on other topics. The cards can either be used by individuals, pairs or small groups. Solutions and instructions are included, but my favourite use is for two students to have different versions of the cards and race each other. They then check their answers, shuffle, swap packs and race again (quickest overall time wins!) Cut out card size is approx. 65 x 90 mm.

Squares and Cubes (Treasure Hunt)

Squares and Cubes (Treasure Hunt)

As an extra to a lot of math's Treasure Hunts the answers to these questions give an encrypted clue (for students to decipher) which reveals where the treasure is hidden. This particular treasure hunt helps verify students' knowledge of the common squares and cubes. It is a quick activity for most students so I would use it immediately before a break, or combine it with a more challenging treasure hunt on a different topic. [CLICK HERE] for a list of similar style Treasure Hunts on other topics. A Treasure Hunt is a great activity which children love. They are ideal for revision, starters or plenaries. They are a really great way to get students to answer questions quickly and enjoy doing so! These question cards have been prepared in two sizes. This allows them to be easily used for a whole class activity, group work or by individuals. The loop cards are particularly helpful during interventions.
