Vikings: Monastery Invasion Narrative Writing

Vikings: Monastery Invasion Narrative Writing

Children will learn about viking raids on Monasteries in Northern England before writing a narrative text. The text can be written from the perspective of a Monk or a Viking during the raid of the Holy Island of Lindisfarne in North East England in 793 CE. In the past, I have introduced this lesson dressed as a Monk in a Monastery with the lights off and candles lit. I play audio in the background of Monks singing (link provided) before acting frightened at the arrival of Vikings coming ashore (link provided). I'm not your Mummy! - Song Pack, Ancient Egypt KS2

I'm not your Mummy! - Song Pack, Ancient Egypt KS2

Way, way back in 500 BC, lived this prince who tells the gruesome tale of his embalming in a silly rock n roll Elvis kinda song...like you do! Great fun for your KS2 topic on Ancient Egypt! You will receive a song teaching video showing Al Start playing the guitar and singing, with Makaton signs and words on screen. You will also receive the original song, backing track and lyrics to use in class or assembly! Having taught music in Primary schools for over 11 years, I find the key to good engagement and enjoyment of singing is the material itself. These songs are specifically written for children to sing and are ideal for performance. They are tried and tested in primary schools around the UK and quite frankly, go down a storm! - Al Start (Go Kid Music)
