Nelson Mandela International Day
18th July 2019
Key Stage 2
Throughout history, many people around the world have faced discrimination. But there are some amazing people who have worked hard to make a change for better, and help us move towards a world where everyone is treated fairly and equally. One such person was Nelson Mandela.
In November 2009, in recognition of the former South African President’s contribution to the culture of peace and freedom, the United Nations General Assembly declared the 18th of July as Nelson Mandela International Day. Nelson Mandela devoted his life to the service of humanity.
This age-appropriate assembly looks at his life and the struggles he overcame which resulted in him becoming one of the world’s most famous humanitarians.
Comprising of a 24-slide power-point presentation, detailed notes and a prayer for Mandela, this informative assembly will save you hours of preparation time, simply download and go.
The presentation can be used in a number of ways;
• for a school assembly
• as part of a lesson
• on the school’s visual loop system
• as an introduction to Nelson Mandela activities.
