Australian States and Territories - word search and mapping exercise

Australian States and Territories - word search and mapping exercise

Wordsearches (a.k.a. word maze) are a fun way for your students to learn the states and main territories of Australia. The wordsearch is coupled with a map that encourages your students not only to learn the names of the states/territories but also their location. The puzzles have three levels of difficulty: Easy - Medium - Hard. This will allow you to differentiate according to the abilities of students in your class. Each of the three puzzles has its own answer key. A large map (A4 size) is also provided in the file should you need to use a larger map for your students rather than the smaller one provided in each word search. Altogether there are 7 pages in this file: 3 word searches, 3 answer keys, 1 A4 sized map.

AQA Full GCSE Revision Guide

AQA Full GCSE Revision Guide

I created this incredibly comprehensive revision guide for my pupils for the old GCSE Specification. It is packed with photos, diagrams, map and text to help pupils succeed. It had an incredibly positive impact on pupils progress/prep for their exam. Whilst it was created for the old spec there is a lot of cross over and I will still be using it e.g., tectonic hazard, living world, coastal landscapes, population, tourism and the urban world are all covered here and in the new AQA specification. I am sure when you see it that you'll agree this is a superb resource.

Shackleton and the Endurance - Keynote

Shackleton and the Endurance - Keynote

Keynote is presentation software similar to Powerpoint that is produced by Apple Computer and can be used on a Mac or iPad. Be aware that this is the latest version (2014). Please download the preview if you are unsure if it will work on your computer. This lesson is an overview of the story of Ernest Shackleton and the crew of the Endurance during their two years trapped in the wilderness of the Antarctic. The story is told with the aid of a timeline of the expedition in the medium of a Keynote - similar to a Powerpoint presentation but a lot more versatile! There is a need in literature and social studies classes to evaluate content presented in diverse media and formats including visually and aurally. This Keynote Presentation is an engaging way of reaching this standard. The lesson contains; 1. A Keynote which contains 21 slides that tell the story visually, with humorous speech bubbles, and full narration. There is also a short quiz and the last part contains a short online video of a journal entry from a fictional member of the crew. The Keynote can be used by a teacher using a computer or iPad connected to a TV, electronic blackboard or projector. Alternatively, it can be used directly on student's iPads as a self study resource similar to an e-book. 2. A pdf file of materials to use with students, including a one page text outlining the story as well as learning materials for new vocabulary, listening and reading comprehension quizzes and a journal writing exercise. 3. A full set of teachers notes and explanation on how to use the Keynote along with a contact e.mail for enquiries. If you have any questions about using Keynote, please feel free to contact me through TES. An alternative version of this product using a 'Prezi' can be found on my store here; Ernest Shackleton Prezi
