Shakespeare Week: great set of Shakespeare quotation display cards/teaching resources

Shakespeare Week: great set of Shakespeare quotation display cards/teaching resources

Shakespeare Week is on the way! This pack contains a great set of A4 display pages. Each has a different quotation to make your students think. Under each quotation, which should be big enough for classroom displays, I’ve put a concise summary of what the quotation is about, who said it, and the scene reference. Teaching: you could quickly insert the ‘animation’ function into my PowerPoint to turn this int a great classroom quiz, as the coloured explanatory text is essentially the ‘answer’ -so you get a display and a quiz in on e! The quotations cover the Histories, Tragedies, Comedies and Late Plays. I have chosen more for ‘Macbeth’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet’ to help our GCSE students! Teaching: you could quickly insert the ‘animation’ function into my PowerPoint to turn this int a great classroom quiz. Happy Shakespeare Week, gentles all. Please browse my shop (search under ‘Shakespeare’) for other resources, including a Shakespearean insults tournament lesson and lots of revision packs.

Curling Winter Olympics Vocabulary game for Interactive Whiteboard

Curling Winter Olympics Vocabulary game for Interactive Whiteboard

Tying in with the Winter Olympics 2018, this is a curling game which I have used for MFL lessons (ask differentiated vocabulary and / or conjugation questions to decide who goes first, and whether students can launch a stone / how many stones they are allowed to launch). Points are gathered either by ‘zone’ the stone is touching, e.g. 1 for outer (blue), 2 for outer white, 3 for red and 4 for inner white, or (like the real curling game) you score depending on how close you are to the middle. If the closest stone is red or yellow, that team gets 1 point. If the second closest is the SAME colour, that team gets 2 points. If it is a different colour, the closest team only gets 1 point, etc. Users simply flick the stone from behind one of the two lines (for left- and right-handed players) towards the house and the scores are totalled after all 8 have been thrown.

Behaviour Warning Chart.

Behaviour Warning Chart.

A great behaviour management tool for any classroom in Keystage 2. I currently use this chart with my Year 4 class. I use it to identify the children who are not given warnings and reward those children when we review the chart the following week. If children are given a warning they put a mark by their name and if they continue to make the wrong choices they then put another mark meaning they are on amber and loose 5 minutes of play time. Finally, if children move onto the red column they loose 5 minutes of their golden time. The sanctions for each level can be adapted to different school behaviour polices. This chart changed the behaviour in my classroom as children could see a reward for making the correct choices rather than focusing on the negative things. Hope it helps many like it has me.

Fantasy Frontbench Climate Change Policy Resource Pack

Fantasy Frontbench Climate Change Policy Resource Pack

This educational resource pack has been designed for use in secondary and further education. It contains content and activities for introducing students to UK climate change policy. The content is deliberately configurable and is suitable for use in tutor-time or citizenship lessons, or as part of a Politics, or Geography lesson. Please see the first page of the pack for a comprehensive mapping of the activities included against the specifications for GCSE and A-level Geography, and A-level Politics. The activities included may be used as stand-alone resources or as preparatory and companionship activities to the Fantasy Frontbench live debate: Is the UK doing enough about climate change?, which will be broadcast live on Wednesday 28th February 2018 at 19.00 -20.00, and can be viewed The debate will be chaired by broadcaster and physicist Helen Czerski, co-chaired by a Member of Youth Parliament (MYP) and feature a number of high-profile speakers including Natalie Bennett, former leader of the Green Party, Prof. Mark Maslin, UCL academic and author, Dr. Emily Shuckburgh, deputy head of the Polar Oceans Team at the British Antarctic Survey and comedian Ahir Shah. What’s Included? Starter This starter activity introduces students to the concept and possible impact of climate change, asking them to think of their own examples and share them with the class. Main - Preparatory Knowledge This section provides the preparatory knowledge required by students to participate in the activities and forms roughly the first half of the full lesson. The resources provided introduce students to the idea of climate change as a political and social issue, encouraging them to consider how international cooperation and government policy can impact the way climate change is managed. Activity 1: Climate Change Debate This activity builds on the preparatory knowledge and sees students working in teams to debate two statements: 'The UK is doing enough about climate change’ and ‘Responsibility for tackling climate change should lie with individuals, not governments’ Activity 2: Climate Change Game Building on the preparatory knowledge, a simplified version of a game developed by James Copestake and Tom Ellum, this activity sees students work in teams representing country groups to explore climate catastrophe as a possible outcome from an environmental ‘tragedy of the commons’. If you have any questions or feedback, please send this to [info@fantasyfrontbench.com] Fantasy Frontbench is a not-for-profit organisation, which aims to present political information in a format that is engaging and accessible. University College London (UCL) Public Policy is the official academic partner for the project.
