Feedback and Marking Ideas for CPD

Feedback and Marking Ideas for CPD

This is a resource that I used at my school to present a CPD session about reducing workload and increasing the effectiveness of marking. It has links to academic research and twitter feedback champions. All of these ideas come from "Mark. Plan. Teach." By Ross McGill.

Media Audiences for A-Level and GCSE

Media Audiences for A-Level and GCSE

The two schemes of work share a lot of content, so you don't really want to buy both separately. You could just buy one and then adjust for delivery, however I have made these adjustments to suit my classes already. If you teach both A-Level and GCSE then getting both is a good idea. Main differences are grades to levels, some of the more advanced content has been removed or replaced in the GCSE scheme and some of the tasks have more age appropriate resources. I have also included a digital mark book which can help for tracking of assessments.

Digital Markbook with 6 assessment points per year group - KS4 - Years 9,10,11 - significant groups

Digital Markbook with 6 assessment points per year group - KS4 - Years 9,10,11 - significant groups

This digital mark book is designed to replace the hand-written columns found at the back of a teacher’s planner. This should help make schools go paper-less and also cut down on teacher’s admin time. You can enter up to 6 assessments per year group for years 9, 10 and 11. Each assessment can be renames, you can change the 'out of score' which will automatically update percentages. You can set the corresponding levels for each year group and the sheet will provide you with average target grades, pie charts and flight paths. You can then use this data to inform your tracking.

1 year of Tutor Time Activities

1 year of Tutor Time Activities

A power point for each school week of the school year- that's 38 weeks! There is a thought of the week that prompts students to consider what the author means, and how they could implement it into their life/school life. This is followed by a "This week in history" slide. This aims to show students cross-curricular events from 9/11, to the creation of the X-ray, to royal weddings and World War II information. There is sometimes an additional slide based on events in the week e.g. Holocaust Memorial Day, The World Cup etc. It ticks every OFSTED box regarding SMSC/British Values but is also a useful tool to promote awareness about current issues with students. The week in history often provides my quiet group with conversation starters. We also show the thought of the week on the TV screens in our social areas. Please leave feedback if you purchase.

Tutor Time Activities: Thought of the Week HT6 World Cup Focus

1 power point per week of the half term, June-July, Requires Tutors to edit a slide regarding fixtures and results for the World Cup (obviously not something I can add in advance!). I will be doing a tutor sweep stake with this. Each follows the same pattern. A "thought of the week" which is a quote from someone they will know (no Buddha/Shakespeare type quotes, more like Dumbeldore, Jay Z, Steve Jobs etc.) Followed by a slide that gives the week in History, I try to make this as cross curricular as possible. Planned for 15 minute sessions to contribute to Schools development of SMSC. Please leave feedback.
