Y7 introduction to working scientifically skills

Y7 introduction to working scientifically skills

The power point expands on the vocabulary they need to be familiar with when writing scientific investigations. I have used it alongside the investigation keywords as a way of identifying any misconceptions the students may have prior to doing investigation work. The worksheet with the prompts on are what I use with my less able students to ensure that they are following a logical format.

https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/matthewharman777 Be weird, be funny, be gross, have fun, play, stick to your routines and find that little spark of madness we all have and electrocute the class with it! My style of teaching isn’t for everyone, I’m a dyslexic teacher who’s heard it all, my lessons are all catered towards accessibility (because if they were not I’d never be able to read them myself). Everything is short sharp and to the point, I don’t believe in endless writing, reams of printing, spoon feeding diagrams or pointless activities. Every minute matters! Be sure to check out all my other resources, as a personal goal I intend to share all my resources at least once because hey, the government isn’t going to make it easier and we both know you are reading this way outside of your work hours. Enjoy, comment or rate if you can, but most of all hang in there, they need you way more than you realise!

Individual pupil investigations involving Chemical Reaction Rates.

Individual pupil investigations involving Chemical Reaction Rates.

Partially structured activity that involves individual pupil investigations involving Chemical Reaction Rates. Remember - Health and Safety is the responsibility of the teacher in charge of the activity. Consult with your laboratory technician and try the experiment before allowing the pupils to attempt the experiment. You know your pupils best. Free starter and plenary activities are provided. Activity is partially structured allowing projection of sheets onto Interactive White Board to allow class discussion. The idea being to throw the process over to the pupils. A suggested marking schedule is also provided, along with Grading and Feedback Sheets. I would suggest putting the pupils into 'marking pairs' and letting them grade each others work and give feedback. Then cast an eye over the work to check it has been done correctly. This activity teaches the pupils how to interpret a marking matrix and make judgements as to what is required to achieve each grade. It takes patience giving the pupils practice carrying out his activity, but will ultimately result in higher pupil achievement and easier marking for you.

AQA Combined science C3 Quantitative chemistry revision sheets

AQA Combined science C3 Quantitative chemistry revision sheets

A resource that I am currently developing for my higher paper students for the C3 quantitative chemistry unit of AQA Combined Science. Each document contains a page of revision notes, an example exam question with a final page consisting of the mark scheme. The objectives have been linked in to PIXL targets for GCSE Chemistry. My students have found this beneficial I hope yours do to!! Further units will be available time permitting!
