Maths: Money / Measure Word Problems #2 (three activities) LOTC Primary SEND

I have worked with Primary and Secondary SEND pupils for over 17 years and have built up a bank of resources to support their learning using visual resources that often lend themselves to being used effectively outside of the classroom. A lot of my resources can be used in places such as supermarkets and come with follow-up classroom-based work. My teaching has consistently been graded as Outstanding throughout my career. This resource comprises of three activities to be taught in succession. The learning objectives focus on teaching pupils to read a written Maths problem and understand what operations they need to do in order to answer the question. There is one activity to be taught in a supermarket and the others are classroom-based. It asks pupils questions like 'how many 2p cookies can you buy for 31p'. I have a vast collection of resources on my hard drive and have uploaded a small proportion of these; if there is anything in particular you are looking for, please contact me and I will probably have it!

Back to School Maths Activities BUNDLE (Year 6 / P7)

Back to School Maths Activities BUNDLE (Year 6 / P7)

Easy to prepare Key Stage 2 Maths games and activities, ideal for the first week back at school with a new class or to stock up your maths shelf for use throughout the year. As a revision and consolidation pack, this best suits Year 6 (P7 and other equivalents), although the resources would suit some younger classes / groups if all included concepts have been covered. After the holidays, before teaching any new aspects of maths, you can get pupils improving their mental agility with these fun Crossnumber puzzles (featuring addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, decimals). You can have them work on those times tables they've forgotten over the summer with these Four in a Row games. Plus you can have them work independently or collaboratively on these mostly multi-step Word Problems challenge cards - a key area to come back to over and over again to ensure pupils can use the four operations in context. Please click on the resources to see previews and more detailed information about each one. I hope this bundle saves you time and helps to get your pupils off to a flying start without you having to do a whole load of planning in the first few days. If you can spare a moment I would be grateful for any reviews. Many thanks. Here are some of my other popular KS2 Maths resources: Mental Maths Bundle Multiplication / Division Bundle Angles / Symmetry Bundle For time-saving, engaging resources to help you plan Primary Literacy, Maths and French lessons, visit FullShelf Resources

Add and Subtract Negative Numbers - Directed Numbers (Whole Lesson with Answers)

Add and Subtract Negative Numbers - Directed Numbers (Whole Lesson with Answers)

(All answers are provided) I've designed this Lesson to allow students to explore adding and subtracting negative numbers building up from the basic pictorial through the use of counters and coming to identifying quicker methods/ rules. It begins with a look a counters and there meaning and different ways of representing numbers and a mini whiteboard activity. This then leads to 4 basic examples of questions such as -2 + 3, followed by four questions for students to try. Answers are given with full pictorial and written solutions here. This then leads to 4 examples of questions such as -2 - -3, again followed by four questions for the students to try. Answers are given with full pictorial and written solutions here. This leads to a class discussion on quicker methods now that they why is understood. Student have the pictorial to fall back on if they get stuck. There is a pointless quiz activity with two rounds which can be used to help stop misconceptions before the main differentiated activity. (Teacher Guidance notes are within the slides for this activity, however it's pretty straight forward if you have seen the TV show.) The resource then in includes a differentiated focused activity which progressively gets harder. This gives students a chance to master and enhance their skills. It includes 5 separate sections a skill 1, 2 & 3 and a stretch 1 & 2. These are all displayed on the same slide for ease of use. Then to finish there is an application on how this could be seen in an exam situation including answers. I hope you find this resource as useful as my students have. Miss B Bonus Materials There is an extra challenge slide of an additions grid of negative numbers. There is also a mixed challenge activity to be used with students once they have learnt how to multiply and divide negative numbers also. I have attached printable versions of the grid I use throughout the slides. I often laminate them for the students to do the examples with me in lessons)

Then they take a card with the matching colour and answer the question. If they answer correctly they can stay there but if they answer incorrectly they must move back to their previous position. 3. If a player lands on the tile with a die on it they immediately get another role of the die. 4. When a player lands on the larger tiles in the corners of the board they must answer a question just like on other tiles however if they are correct they receive a matching coloured token. Once a player has collected all 4 coloured tokens (1 from each corner of the board) they must return to the centre of the board to win the game! Other Ways to Use the Cards! With 270 question cards there are many ways you could use them without the board! If you have lessons focusing on Fractions (Red), Measurements (Green), Word Problems (Yellow) or Mental Maths (Blue) you can use only the specific set of cards for students to solve in groups, pairs or individually for morning activities, lesson starters, main activity or extensions.
