Understanding who you are and how you communicate

Understanding who you are and how you communicate

As part of a PSHCE or SEND SOW this lesson(s) can be used to explore the different ways individuals learn, what the best way to learn is for them and also how communication can impact on themselves and others positively and negatively. This is a mini SOW that can take up to 3 lessons depending on your learners. The language and time taken can be adapted to fit the needs of all learners, I currently use this with a SEND group and talk them through the activities. This was originally designed to provide students who were struggling with social, emotional skills to develop self awareness and understanding which in turn would improve their ability to access learning in the classroom.

Positivity Questionnaire. Growth Mind-sets.

Positivity Questionnaire. Growth Mind-sets.

Challenge your students to consider how positive they are about life, learning and pretty much everything. The questions will provide students with a score with a corresponding statement that outlines their particular mind-set. A nice starter activity for group work based on positive or growth mind-sets. Suitable for KS3 and 4.

Tutor Time Activities: Thought of the week

Tutor Time Activities: Thought of the week

1 power point per week of the half term. Jan-Feb Please follow this link for: Half Term 1- Sep- October https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/tutor-time-activities-thought-of-the-week-11716356# Half Term 2- October- December https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/tutor-time-activities-thought-of-the-week-11742651 Each follows the same pattern. A "thought of the week" which is a quote from someone they will know (no Buddha/Shakespeare type quotes, more like Dumbledore, Jay Z, Steve Jobs etc.) Followed by a slide that gives the week in History, I try to make this as cross curricular as possible. Planned for 15 minute sessions to contribute to Schools development of SMSC. Please leave feedback.
