French speaking players at the World Cup

French speaking players at the World Cup

Every major tournament, I print out and laminate pictures of the most well-known French speaking footballers. I put these up around school and the children love trying to work out the meanings of the words. I’ve also added some slides at the end that you could use in class to discuss vocabulary and for the children to write their own profile. Please let me know if there are any errors. I learnt today that you say “Je viens de France” rather than “Je viens de la France,” which is what I’ve always used in the past. Enjoy and Allez les bleus!!!

song lyrics with a twist (quiz)

song lyrics with a twist (quiz)

“N’arrête pas de croire, accroche-toi aux sentiments”…if you can do some basic French to English translation, then you will know which song those lyrics belong to! (but just to make sure, it was Journey with Don’t stop believing) Another fun, musical activity for your older or gifted and talented pupils to get their teeth stuck in. There are 20 famous song lyrics to translate, decipher and recognise. It’s always been a hit with my classes, and I hope your students will love it too. (Answers included on the second page)

FRENCH CONVERSATION CARDS 1&2

FRENCH CONVERSATION CARDS 1&2

My students have always enjoyed and really benefited from these FRENCH conversation cards. They’re perfect for developing speaking skills - there are 200 question and answer cards and two reference booklets focusing on beginning/general conversation and cultural knowledge. They’re also great for multi-skill language learning - they give your students structured talk opportunities and will also get them listening, reading and writing. They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work. These sets focus on beginning conversation, with a flavor of cultural and geographical knowledge. The prompt cards also feature language and structures that your students are likely to meet in the beginning and more intermediate stages of their FRENCH learning, including a range of tenses. The REFERENCE BOOKLETS include all the questions and answers written out in FRENCH. Students find these very useful learning support resources and they’re also handy whole-group pronunciation practice and reading-out loud resources. Students use the NOTES AND NEXT STEPS template to reflect on their learning, and think about what they might reasonably do to progress in their learning. The QUESTION AND ANSWER WRITING CARD TEMPLATES give students the opportunity to apply their FRENCH very practically, as they create both questions and answers for each other. This is a great team activity too. You can also use the cards for a whole range of games, and I’ve described how to play several you can start with. The resource consists of four non-editable files in a zipped format: SET 1 PROMPT CARDS with writing template and REFERENCE BOOKLET SET 2 PROMPT CARDS with writing template and REFERENCE BOOKLET The sets are also available individually if you prefer, each priced at $4.00. Please read the TERMS OF USE carefully: this resource is copyright, and for single-teacher / classroom / purchaser use only. MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BONNE CONVERSATION !

FRENCH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES CARDS

FRENCH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES CARDS

A SET OF 80 MATCHING GAMES CARDS SHOWING COUNTRIES, FLAGS AND CAPITAL CITIES OF 40 COUNTRIES WHERE FRENCH IS AN OFFICIAL LANGUAGE Students can really get to know LES PAYS FRANCOPHONES by playing a range of games with the cards, completely independently. I’ve included a full reference resource too, which is great not only for when you’re focusing on French-speaking countries, but also as an all-year round resource. Allow students about 60 seconds on a timer to really focus their reading and to increase the sense of competition if you’re playing any of the whole-group games! There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the games help them fully develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of LES PAYS FRANCOPHONES. Laminate the cards and reference sheets if you can - you will be able to use them for years to come. The resource consists of two, non-editable files in a zipped format. Please read the TERMS OF USE carefully - the resource is copyright, and for single-teacher / purchaser / classroom use only. MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BON VOYAGE !
