A three week KS2 writing unit with a powerful environmental theme. All lesson plans, PowerPoints and activitiy resources included - it’s ready to go. Pupils explore a one-sided argument about fossil fuels, and then create their own persuasive writing about food waste. Turn your class into eco-heroes! Teach children about persuasive devices, and encourage them to use these skills to make a positive change.
I used this project in Y4, but it could be quickly adapted for any KS2 class - all resources are fully editable.
If you buy this resource, ignore the preview images (these are just png screen shots) and open the zip folder. Inside this folder, you will find full versions of all plans, presentations and tasks, organised into lesson-by-lesson folders for ease of use.

These classroom activities work to explore how international trade can both help and hinder people in developing countries as they try to improve their lives. Through real-life examples, pupils are encouraged to consider the notion of ‘fairness’ and think about the positive impact of buying products that have been fairly traded upon the lives of people in developing countries.
Using the popular theme of travel and transport, these classroom activities work to help children in the UK understand more about what life is like for children around the world. The resource uses a variety of exciting approaches – from encouraging children to write a transport-themed song to asking them to map routes they frequently travel.
Time zone loop cards where the children must work out the time change between GMT and other countries aimed at 2nd Level CfE or KS2 equivalent.
Example: What time is it in Moscow when it is 21:30 in Glasgow- children must work out the change of +3 hrs - all children check cards to see if they have 00:30 and read their question until it makes it way right round the class.
Can use a time zone reference sheet to support children with the time zone or show a time zone map on IWB.
Simple slides showing a variety of bridges. Includes an activity to build bridges using crackers, biscuits and icing sugar 'cement.&' Please comment if you have time.
