A great starter activity for KS1 when teaching mini beasts or insects in Science. Print this resource several times, laminate and cut up the photos and hide in a tray with shredded paper. Place a tray on each table and challenge the children to work together to place the photos they find on the correct name of each mini beast. The table to complete first is the winner!
This resource is differentiated by having a brief description of some of the more difficult to identify mini beasts, such as distinguishing between the damselfly and the dragon fly, written on the card…
Six resources for EYFS numeracy on the theme of Minibeasts.
Introduce number stories with the presentation and then work on numeracy with the worksheets. Doubling & halving, Addition and Counting.
A Bingo game that will encourage a lot of discussions as you play :)
There are 3 different boards, each with matching sets of pictures with names, group names (insect, not insect), descriptions.
Playing: Children attempt to match each animal with a picture card; match additional sets of cards, wherever it is an insect or not an insect; and then guess the minibeasts when reading the description cards.
Children can check their answers - answer sheet for each bingo board included.
