I dunno - I don't even know what "Edexcel AS questions" means, but that's probably partly because I teach in Australia. Regarding Question 2D - if the Beatles were even counting, they almost definitely would've counted at double your time and essentially seen the time signature as an unchanging four-four, with one and two bar interludes. I'm not sure of the significance of being able to identify Paul McCartney as the person who sings the Lead Vocal line from bars 2-13 of the excerpt. Hey - I know that it was Alan Civil who played the French Horn solo in "For No One", but what does that mean? Question i - what? Assuming the students have previously studied the whole song, they would identify the section immediately preceding this excerpt as the orchestral ascending portamento fill that functions as a seque between John's bit and Paul's bit. It's not a pre chorus - it's not really a codetta. It could be a transition - but not really, given it's relative weight in the arrangement and its repetition just before the final E major eternal chord resolution thingy at the end. Answer?
Really helpful - thanks! Is there a mark scheme at all?
