Revision tool which regenerates new questions and self marks! For use on pupil shared areas, all questions modeled on past SATs.
Great alternative to use alongside practice papers, all answers will turn green when correct giving immediate feedback, hence also saves on printing/photocopying and marking.
This can also be put on as many machines as you like, once downloaded put on your school network for pupils to work on-screen (no complex installation just copy to the shared area) and generate a new set of questions with one click! (Just click 'calculate now' and a new set will be generated each time.) This will also be good practice for the use of on-screen tests.
Great for revising multiple topics whilst improving fluency and mental maths skills, and also includes a times tables booster!
A plan listing key days, festivals, celebrations each month, that can be easily link to the listed area of maths. We use this as a department to ensure SMSC, cross curricular links, real life maths, maths in and out of the usual context, enhance and improve pupils problem solving and applying skills, encourage discussion and to ensure consistency and the sharing of planning, resources and good practice across the department. We are now at the point where pupils are creating their own. Each member of the department takes a unit and plans a series of starters relating to the key dates and themes on powerpoint. The rest of the department then just edit and adapt for their KS3 class.

These week plans were created for a mixed ability year 5 class, whose topic was Space. Their written outcome is an instructional manual for an astronaut. The PowerPoint includes the slides I used with the children, as well as grammar and group activities and task cards for differentiated writing activities.
Designed to engage and inspire boys to write but of course suitable for girls too! This lesson is a complete, engaging and imaginative, creative writing or Big Writing stimuli lesson that can be applied to many different writing genres. Children discuss ideas and then plan by answering the thought provoking questions which enable a wealth of ideas to be generated for the writing. Planning sheet has space for 5 sense descriptions, VCOP elements and purpose, audience and genre notes to help meet the new 2014 curriculum. Starter activity plus 2 widths of line guides/writing sheets included plus optional paragraph planning sheet, custom art sheet and self-assessment plenary activity mean that this lesson's length is flexible and could easily last for 2 hours if you wanted it to and comes with 3 different options for delivery over 1,2 or 3 lessons. Lesson is aimed at KS2 but can be used for more able KS1, or KS3 as it is differentiated by outcome.
This sequence aims to think through the investigative process using a very engaging activity. It involves learners thinking through the control and measurement of variables.
It can be used to produce and analyse graphs and think through challenging explanations.
There are also some surprising events for further challenge if different soft drinks are used.
In this activity there is a PowerPoint, an activity guide and making and launching guides (which it is recommended that you laminate!)
Sample Chapter from Galore Park's Mathematics Year 5 textbook (9781471829383). This chapter covers Angles and includes angle descriptions, finding the size of an angle and 2 sets of questions on calculating angles. A quick guide to using a protractor is also included.
There are about 17 (practical and fun) lesson activities, tasks or worksheets to cover the following 2014 objectives:
Recognise angles as a property of shape or a description of a turn.
Identify right angles, recognise that two right angles make a half-turn, three make three quarters of a turn and four a complete turn; identify whether angles are greater than or less than a right angle.
This is one of the children's favourite activities to help understand angles. Ideas for children of all abilities to have fun learning about angles.

This is a great little card game for helping players grasp the idea that angles in a triangle and on a straight line all add up to 180 degrees. By mixing these concepts together, with cards that also show two angles, it exercises the theory in a strong and varied way.
A full set of rules are included in the game, and the cards are printed with easy-cut guides to make preparation fast and simple.
