Lesson Title - Birds communicate through calls and songs that are specific to purpose. Lesson Objective(s) – ? TSW understand that birds have a special structure called a syrinx; it allows them to vocalize. ? TSW learn that some birds have the ability to learn songs; for other birds songs are innate. ? TSW learn that bird songs are longer and more complex; these are typically used for courtship or defense of territory. By contrast, calls are shorter and more simplistic and usually used for simpler purposes.
