Lesson begins with a knowledge starter. Main focus is on improved access to care in the 20th century. Students have to plot developments 1900-45 on an impact diagram. Students then consider the factors that led to the development of the NHS (using an importance pyramid) and the impact of the NHS (using a diamond nine). There is a plenary to check students understanding. There is also a knowledge matrix included so students can self assess their learning as they progress through the course.
