Powerpoint which takes children through the process of creating simple algebraic expressions.Works well with key stage 2 pupils.
Worksheet compliments the work covered in the powerpoint.
The Publisher file is a variation on the Powerpoint but does work well on an IWB and might be more suited to older children.

Thank you for this! I really like the use of grains of sand, shoals of fish etc to show unknown numbers -- a vivid and helpful introduction to creating expressions. To use the question sheet, I had to tidy it up a little, eg in questions 4 and 6 it should say "there will be", not just "there will". Also in questions 2 and 6, there should be a comma after the "If..." clause, not a full stop. But these are minor points on a very useful resource.
It is excellent resource. Thank you very much!
