It's an ALLUSION! (Literary, Biblical and Mythological Allusions)
Based on the CCSS L.7.5a Interpret figures of speech (e.g., literary, biblical, and mythological allusions) in context, this product has everything you need to teach a two-day lesson on allusions: a PowerPoint, lesson plan, worksheet and answer key!

Students learn what allusions are AND two strategies for interpreting unknown allusions: CONTEXT and RESEARCH.

The class is shown several examples on the PowerPoint to discuss. There are opportunities within the lesson to brainstorm ideas for other likely references.

The EATS lesson plan includes an essential question, activating strategy, teaching strategies and an Exit Ticket.

The worksheet keeps students on task, while providing notes for later.

The PowerPoint has timers on the activity slides to help keep the lesson paced correctly.

My students understood the concepts by the end of the second day- and I think you will find this a success in your classroom!
