Kinematic Motion Graph Matching

Displacement vs. Time, Velocity vs. Time, Acceleration vs. Time graphs and corresponding scenario that students have to match up together. Has 12 sets of graphs total with 4 easy, 4 medium, and 4 difficult sets of graphs. Supports *Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and ** AP® Physics standards:
HS-PS2-1: Analyze data to support the claim that Newton’s second law of motion describes the mathematical relationship among the net force on a macroscopic object, its mass, and its acceleration.
3.A.1.1: The student is able to express the motion of an object using narrative, mathematical, and graphical representations.
3.A.1.3: The student is able to analyze experimental data describing the motion of an object and is able to express the results of the analysis using narrative, mathematical, and graphical representations.
Print out the graphs and scenario, cut them out, and mix them up. Laminate them for better durability. Students then match the scenario with the displacement vs. time graph, velocity vs. time graph, and acceleration vs. time graph. You can use as all of them or give students the easier ones to see how they do and let them progress up. Answer key is included. Ideal for pair or group collaboration.
