Use opening of Pirates of the Caribbean to improve descriptive writing using five senses. Starter: spot the senses in the descriptive piece 1 Play the DVD of opening sequence make notes on storyboard (print out PP in handouts) 2 Write in first person, showing changes in atmosphere. (I used title: 'A Sea Change') 3 Can make a good display. (You could also do a starter listening to the sea and writing or create a sea sound scape with pupils being the sea, rain, gulls etc)
