KS2 History - Nola Ishmael Profile and Writing Task
This resource contains detailed information on Nola Ishmael, who was part of the ‘Windrush generation’ of Commonwealth recruits, emigrating from Jamaica to train as a nurse in England. She eventually rose in her career to become the first black Director of Nursing and was awarded the OBE in 2000. This resource has comprehension and discussion questions for pupils to explore their understanding. There is also a suggested writing task for pupils to extend their comprehension skills and to practise creative writing. This resource contains two sheets, one for early stage readers and one for more advanced readers.
