Pumpkins. A Thematic unit.
The Fall season is an ideal time to introduce the students to pumpkins. Children equate pumpkins with Hallowe'en and Jack o' Lanterns, and are naturally enthusiastic about this big orange fruit. This thematic unit covers all areas of the curriculum with many activity suggestions and a list of suggested books. There are observations to be made and experiments to be conducted – along with mathematical problems and language arts activities. You will find handouts ready to duplicate and distribute. There is also a recipe for pumpkin cookies!
